HISTORY:

WEIRD SUSPENSTORIES ARE IN FACT A HYBRID OF CRIME SUSPENSTORIES, PUBLISHED BY SUPERIOR COMICS, WITH THE EXPRESS PERMISSION OF THE ENTERTAINING COMICS GROUP (EC), IN TORONTO FROM OCTOBER 1951-DECEMBER 1951, EXACTLY ONE YEAR FOLLOWING THEIR AMERICAN COUNTERPARTS.

ISSUES # 1-3 ARE CITED AS THE ONLY ISSUES KNOWN TO EXIST, AND FEW COPIES HAVE SURFACED IN THE PAST 50 YEARS. THE INTERIOR OF THESE BOOKS ARE IDENTICAL TO CRIME SUSPENSTORIES # 1-3, BUT HAVE CANADIAN HOUSE ADS, AND THE LETTER PAGES HAVE BEEN DROPPED.

LEGISLATION WAS PASSED IN CANADA WHICH MADE IT A CRIMINAL OFFENCE TO IMPORT CRIME COMICS INTO CANADA BETWEEN 1949-1953, HENCE THE WORD “WEIRD” REPLACED “CRIME” ON THE COVERS OF THESE COMICS. THIS LENDS AN ESOTERIC ELEMENT TO THIS GENRE AND ONLY 2-3 COPIES OF EACH BOOK ARE KNOWN TO EXIST.

here's a rare one, bell publication's

Teenage Parade # 7

this was missing in the GCD the current scan is this low grade copy

cover reprints the first page panel from a story from Junior # 9 Al Feldstein art

Re-interprets, I think. Looks redrawn given the different feel and the signature.

I didn't know that! Is it an exact reprint then? It looks a little off to me, but maybe that's because its a panel and I've really only looked at covers when it comes to Feldstein GGA

Found this old pic in my photobucket, Canadian Timley's galore. Was so close to completing the set, even had a rare Ghost Rider #1 in there too.

Since taking this pic I did add a Cap #68, 70, 71, 72, 73 and the annual. Subby # 31, Torch #33, 35.

I wish I grabbed that Ghost Rider when I had the chance...at least we'd know where it is!!!
