This was kind of a crazy one for me - sorry in advance for all the text, I tend to like the stories behind the books/purchases.

So, I've been on the lookout for a copy of Marvel's Freddy Krueger's Nightmare on Elm Street 2-issue run from the late 80s (89 I think?). The run got cut after only 2 issues because of concern over how parents and the public would view the mature content. If you're aware of these books, you know they can be pricey, so I've been looking for them at a decent cost, in nice shape, and I wanted to buy them as a set if possible. The other night I found some that fit my criteria and bought them - here they are:

Literally the next day after I bought them, I saw a new listing pop up for a Nightmare on Elm Street lot that included the 2 Marvel books and 8 other books at what seemed like an awesome deal. I had to do my diligence, and since I already bought the books I wanted, I figured I'd think about it and I added it to my watchlist. About an hour later, the seller sent an offer that was literally one I couldn't refuse, based on what I had found when researching. I actually stopped what I was doing for work so I could get a chance to accept the offer and pay before it went away. So I ended up with 2 more Marvel copies in this lot, and a whole lot more:

I found that the later issues of the Innovation run - especially Nightmares 6 - can be super tough to find. There are a couple on eBay and maybe one set last I checked, but it's nice to have them in this set, especially in such great condition.

Sweet! Would you believe just a couple of days ago I got the wild hare and decided to try to pick up this set, as I fondly remembered buying the Innovation Nightmare off the stands when it came out (still love that cover). I thought "Hey, you know, it'd be good to own that set again." Went online and my jaw dropped when I saw the prices! Holy cats! I knew that the Jason vs Leatherface books, the early Halloween books, and several other horror books had been selling for a good price for a long time, but I hadn't kept track of the NoES books. I guess I'll go back to hoping I dig 'em out of a bin. Great pickup!

I was as shocked as you when I started doing my research. I knew the Marvel set could be pricey, but I had no knowledge of the Innovation books. The Marvel books sell for $75-120 if you're trying to pick up the 2-book set (maybe a little less if you're lucky and patient). The Innovation set of 1-6 seems to sell easy for $150, with #6 going for $50 or more by itself. And the 2-issue "Beginning" set is $30-45 usually. The seller sent a BIN of $125 for the 10-book lot (Marvel 1-2, Innovation Nightmares 1-6, Beginning 1-2). No way could I pass it up!

@Jesse-Lee The Marvel Freddy books are fantastic finds! Well done! Are you a Horror fan in general, or Freddy specific? The modern DC/Wildstorm Freddy books are also quite hard to come by; let me know if you dig them; I know a guy who has the Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash set & is willing to let them go.

I absolutely love that cover; need to seek this one out. Nice book!

Edit: Wow, I didn't realize it pulled that kind of price!

Ya the Batgirl you mentioned is by the artist artgerm, it was one of the firsts that everyone said he hit it out of the park. Can be pricey.

The Batgirl in the post above it that I quoted here is a purple rain homage cover. I had a shot at it three years ago at cover price but passed and regretted. At the time I even took a pic to show a friend the cool cover and for some reason still didn't pick it up. doh!
