The probability of them doing any time is zero. CA decriminalized theft below $950 which means if you can grab it and get away from store clerks and security you are home free. Catching the thieves is not an option for cops since worst case it is a ticket. 1950's war comics and sacentaur 1

They haven't robbed yet. Glass cases would not have worked, since the comics were stolen in a smash and grab from a vehicle.

Correct - note the original incident was reported as a “robbery”, but it actually was an auto burglary so your statistics were quite apt. Yep, but it was a non violent crime and if he is made sort of whole, I doubt the prosecutors will pursue it.

Yeah, but at least in California we got rid of the straws in restaurants...well, sort of. But back to topic, I hope Harley gets all of his books back. And I hope the three perps are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, as this is a high dollar robbery.

Alf Pogs
Had my car stolen in SF and found in Berkeley about 3 months later trashed. All told I figure it set me back about 17 grand. Won't go near either city ever again. 1950's war comics

You can still get arrested and charged and penalized. Because it's not a felony, you cannot be put into state prison, but you can still be jailed for 6 to 12 months. For some, of course, you can get probation and a fine; but a lot of felonies are bargained down so that people don't get prison time. This law also doesn't apply to people with previous convictions for severe or chronic run ins with the law. dupont2005, shortboxed, Pokecollectoramy and 2 others
