I loved Lizzie Olson in DS 2, but I think the storytellers did a lousy job explaining her situation coming out of WandaVision.  She and Vision did have kids, loved them, and then lost them when she had to return to reality.  What pushed her to her insane quest was the Darkhold's corruption, not love or logic.  But we didn't get to see her corruption on-screen to know she wasn't rational about any of this, leading to a ton of natural 'why not this?' questions.  If they don't skip narrative steps, the film -- and her motivations -- would have made a lot more sense IMO.

And the more that has come out, it sounds like Marvel Studios changed its mind mid-stream how to package up the movie. Leading to the extensive reshoots and trading entire scenes. Raimi being seasoned must have kept him cool throughout the experience.

If studios (especially Marvel) didn’t learn that this should never be done after the Star Wars sequels, I’m afraid it will never stop.

The most cringe inducing dialogue award goes to Jane Foster while fighting Gorr near the end of the film: "My name is not Lady Thor, it's Mighty Thor, and if you can't say Mighty Thor it's doctor Jane Foster. And finally, eat my hammer!"

Ok.  Why is Disney allowing directors to film a 4 hour movie knowing that the final cut I going to be around 2 hours.  Shooting so many extra scenes and apparently paying actors that are not even making it into the final cut of the film is just indicative of excess and disregard for the value of money in the real world.  Taika flat out admits to doing this for Thor 4 and that he has no intention of these scenes ever seeing the light of day.  What executive is allowing this to happen, and no wonder the budget for this film is reported around $250 million. They flat out spent at least $75 million that they basically threw away.

 

Also, why are investors standing for stuff like this?  It puts very unreasonable expectations for film after film to make $600 million BO to even break even, when if you trimmed that budget, you would need to make $500 (still a lot \but you get my point). It just eats into profit margins.  Or maybe use that money to make other films and diversify a bit more.

Overseas, #ThorLoveAndThunder crossed the 300M mark after grossing 31.8M on 3rd weekend over 47 markets, -47.1% drop from last weekend, for a 322M international cume. Allied to 276.5M in the US, new #Thor hits a 598.2M Global cume at #BoxOffice. Eyeing a 710M-720M Global run

Is the argument that Love and Thunder didn't cost much more than The Batman? Because that wouldn't make any sense. While both directors may have shot the same amount of material (about 4 hours), The Batman is not reliant on VFX for much of its runtime. It would be common sense to assume that Love and Thunder was significantly more expensive to produce, despite half of the film not making it to screen. I have to imagine that the Thor cast was more expensive to sign, too.

I didn't say anything about Batman.  Batman also cost too much and didn't make enough money.  Just like Thor.

That's what those two have in common.
