Popular Post comicquant
I haven't read through all the posts but @Robot Man convinced Ron Pussell ( @Redbeard ) to post some of his knowledge on the boards. Seemed to have an insane level of detail regarding GA book finds (pedigrees etc.). He's also far and away the most knowledgable regarding Pence variants across all publishers, indicia variants, U.S. price font variations etc. He also has a wealth of knowledge about Marvel newsstand price variants (1999-2000), Canadian price variants, and Australian price variants. His research and cataloging are very impressive, and have been mentioned in Overstreet and elsewhere. I'd also add @AJD for all things Australian, @G.A.tor for Centaur (and the G.A. market in general), @lizards2 for fish-in-the-face covers, and @nearmint for statues. I'm sure I'm missing others. I lurk more than you think, and love taking in all the knowledge here on the boards Ken Aldred, G.A.tor, porcupine48 and 8 others

Very kind of you to mention me here, but I'd say I'm solid on some aspects of Australian comics but pretty thin on others. @Duffman_Comics is pretty good and certainly broader. For deep comics history, all the way from platinum to the origin of collecting as we know it, @Yellow Kid needs a shout out. I lurk more than you think, and love taking in all the knowledge here on the boards Nice of you to say Ryan. I'll pay you later The good thing about these boards is that we have hundreds of members with detailed knowledge covering just about every comic subject you could fathom. I once pitched an idea to CGC that they could create a 'knowledge centre' as a separate area of the boards where the experts could summarise their specific knowledge in a manner that could be easily accessible to others (with a challenge function of some sort to keep it all accurate). The boards search function has it's limitations and so much information is either buried or lost now (which may explain the regular newbie questions that we see on the same subjects). I actually provided some pence related scripts to CGC (at their request) but nothing came of it. To be fair, they're probably too busy grading books to focus any energy on the preservation of comic knowledge at the moment but maybe one day this is something that could happen. I've summarised most of my research threads in my journal here and homepage here to give an indication of what could be achieved. If CGC were to go down this road they could create the single best resource function for the hobby by drawing on the expertise of their members. A separate information area, free from the clutter that message boards generate could be a huge draw I think. I also think it might help bring back some of those members who have left. Some of the most knowledgeable people I know do not even have accounts here. Perhaps a bespoke area such as I've suggested could draw them in. The software here is really good compared to others that I have seen and, crucially, it is free. What I do here myself I could not do anywhere else (get your jokes in now) Time is running out, as I personally feel that the hobby is in decline, but maybe one day. In 10 or 20 years time, there won't be anyone left who remembers the Golden Age. Then it will be Silver.... So the time to do this is now. I wouldn't mind betting that many members with extensive knowledge do not contribute as they are 'tired' of responding to the same question. And yet their previous responses to those questions are now likely buried. If they could summarise in one dedicated place, they could simply refer each new questioner to the area in which they know they will find an answer. With proper planning, execution and focus, it could be great. Ken Aldred, Duffman_Comics, Hollywood1892 and 8 others
