35 cent Variant List-Help wanted

904 posts in this topic

Happy to see some new collectors go for the set again. Alot of there questions though could be answered by reading this whole thread. The infomation is all here. Any additional information that might help would be on SA's 35 cent sales thread on STL's web site.

There are a couple of collectors/sellers on ebay that really are a victim of us in a form. They lack the education to realize not all 35 centers are worth $150 in any issue in any grade. They just dont know any better because some of there issues have sold for that and they get demand from many buyers on here in the form of questions and emails. I could understand if the book had personal meaning to you and you would only think about parting with it for X amount.

Some sellers that I havent seen lately just pull there prices from out of the air. If a guy pays $65 for a nice 35 center from me and wants to turn around and slabbed and put a $400 price on it so be it. I paid $2 for it good luck selling and paying fees for a year.

Unless a dealer brings 35s to Chicago the odds of finding one there are pretty slim, but here is a hint next time. Find a dealer from the south, Ohio, or far east coast. It will increase your odds some not alot, but some. Good hunting.

Thank you. I tried my best today and only found the common 30 cent books that plaster the internet. I wasted so much time I missed all the good end of con deals and a set of near perfect Crow books. Which seemed to be kind of hot buys this year because of O'barr who I think hates CGC SS because of the odd ways he handles your books and talks about things when he is signing your book in front of a SS witness :roflmao: . I didn't know if to get mad or laugh because James was like Andy Kaufman of the con and still making me laugh on what said about other artist. I hope he comes back next year.

Where are all the 35 cent at WWChicago?

What makes you think there were going to be variants at chicago? I live in a distribution area, and most times see no variants at local shows.

I missed out on one dealer who had a bunch but sold them already to one guy for under guide two days ago.

I seriously doubt this. really. no kidding.

I guess I'm stuck with the internet and over priced books.

(shrug) I have no clue, what this means.

here is some advice for you, and any other prospective variant collector/speculator/flipper -- do not buy over priced books!

hope that helps (thumbs u

Robert - I am retired from tracking variants for the masses. The porno spammers/hackers caused a loss of over a years worth of data. That and one other incident caused me to stop publically tracking books. Now I just track for me and my hoarding.

nobody read my postings over there anyway :gossip:

Ahem, at least one nobody read your stuff. Actually, that's why I liked it over there. It was about data. Sure we had fun and made a few variants in my basement, but it was a place you could go and find real numbers and scans (that had a permanent home).

Plus my granny wants her variants back.

ok sorry, I do realize there were at least 5 people that read it.

I have a plan for the future. The perfect storm of life, work and the website going down, has made it real easy to step away for awhile.

I will keep you guys posted.

Just wondering if anyone has an idea what is a good price for a HTD #13 CGC 9.4 (Highest Graded) or what would one go for?

Best answer to this would be is let all of us know when you have on an aution site like ebay or c-link and let the :slapfight: begin or put it on here for a price that you want for it and we PM a buy for that price or best offer. (thumbs u

The answer to the question is $1150.

:sorry: I missed the boat on this one. I didn't want to over pay but I wanted this because it is so hard to find and has (worship) KISS in it. Well I will try next time but I need to get my HG Iron Fist and X-Men books first.

Did anyone see that someone listed the Highest Graded SW#1 35-cent on ebay? I wish I had the cash for that but I guess someone on here will get it and give it a better home.

I asked that months ago because I knew he had it over a year ago but he just never put it on. I was trying to acquire that book from him for over a year but he would never make up his mind what he wanted for it. That's why I asked here what a good range would be for that book but no one here had a clue. Finally he came up with a price range he was looking to get $1200-1500 for the book. I thought that was crazy so I passed and told him to throw it on eBay but I was hoping he would throw it at auction with a low starting price to see how much interest there really would be. Anyway, he got a crazy price for it compared to what some other 9.4-9.6's have gone for. That's why you always throw a high buy it now with best offer and let the nuts come out to play.

I wonder who was the Nut :insane: ?? We won't see this book again for a year or more and most likely with a higher crazy price tag.

I am doubting this too. I have no idea who bought it -not worth my time to check or care- but it was most likely a collector, not a speculator.

Also, prices like this one sometimes tend to drive others of all grades out. Most people do not read these boards and know that currently there are three HG collectors waiting for Howard the Duck variants.
