Looks like old slow Bob was a bit faster and up-to-date with his guide valuations than I had thought, as this result of $21,138 only had a multiple of a mere 62X his condition guide valuation of $339.50 for this CGC 3.5 graded copy of Our Flag #5.  :applause:

:takeit:, at full condition guide valuation, that is.  lol

I was about to bid on this one, because that front cover is beautiful. But of course no back cover is posted, which is worrisome.

so i went to CGC, who now posts both front and back covers on their newly graded books.

and there it is: the back cover.

I think this will go better in someone else’s collection

Well if anyone ever had a shot at a solidly presenting partially coverless Tec 27 for a potentially decent price, this would be it. With the married centerfold/back cover and slightly brittle pages, may push some bidders away. I honestly have no problem whatsoever with any of those issues. Would be more than ecstatic to own this copy.

Will be interesting to see what it hammers at. I suspect still somewhere over $100K, but who knows. Maybe it sells for less.

I’m the proud owner of this Detective #27. I purchased the book in 2003 and time to let it go!

I decided to go the auction house route because it’s difficult to price out for a potential private deal. I chose Comic Link because it was my go to when I was buying books in the day. I started auctioning off books there around 6 months or so. Nothing but professional service and fast payments after books sold!

CGC is accurate in their grading notes but it was hard to tell if the centrefold was married. The centrefold pages seem consistent with the page quality and sizing of the margins compared to the surrounding pages. The spine margins are slightly brittle but the rest of the interior pages are supple and off/white pages.
I took some photos of the interior pages before CGC slabbed the book
Here are the Batman pages from the book!

Why not?

I still have books like Tec #31 and Tec #33 unrestored.
Can’t keep them forever, so time to let the Tec #27 go at auction.

Of course I like your estimate $150 - $200 K

I hope you get that price. It’s worth it. I have a coverless missing the CF that came with a married back cover from an old Tec 27 1.0.  I look at it maybe once a year.

Wow,,,

Congratulations on your book!!

I still like your estimate!!

Not to many of these around even coverless or near complete.
The front cover only missing a chunk sold for over 200K a while back! Incredible and probably worth it for long term investment.
