Finally starting to unpack after a move and managed to get the scanner up and running.

Here is the first one, short one corner, but still scan worthy.

Lets see those JIM 5's - an Everett master work.

Too much of a likeness not to be the case. I love it. Now Mad/EC collectors will be chasing this book.

The next Fear 19 or Marvel Preview 7! :acclaim:

There's a real sharp run of Marvel Tales in the ComicConnect auction. The Church copy of # 95 should go through the roof..... GOD BLESS...

That book was for sale last Spring at Metro for $4,500. Interesting to see where it ends up a little over a year later.

I can't seem to access my entire post history. I apologize if I've shared this before. :foryou:

As most of you know, I acquired 99% of my books raw (in the pre-CGC days, well before Atlas stuff caught fire). I did complete the 57-book title run, but I only had a couple of the sub-FN books certified. The "nice" portion of the run is shown below: one Bethlehem copy (#30), six Circle 8 copies (#52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57), five River City copy (#20, 22, 23, 26, 27), five White Mountain copies (#2, 8, 13, 14, 15), one issue from Díck Ayers' personal file (#40), eight Petaluma copies (#21, 28, 33, 34, 35, 36, 39, 50), and ten uncirculated but three-hole punched copies from the Eastern Color files (#42-49, 51, 52). Enjoy!

Thanks, guys. You're all far too kind. Honestly, there are few things better than sharing one's treasures with an appreciative audience. My wife's attitude was always "Nice, but why do you need so many of them?" Of course, that was also my standard response to her every time she came home with a new pair of shoes.

I began buying comics off the rack in the late 1950s. I really enjoyed the pre-hero stuff, and my pursuit of the pre pre-hero JIM and ST issues rather quickly morphed into a quest for all of the Atlas fantasy/horror/sci-fi stuff. I didn't care much about a book's condition, as long as the cover inks were bright and interior was fairly fresh. Much of my low- to mid-grade stuff came via used book stores and church/school bazaars. I had several multi-year pauses along the way (for college, career, family), but my emotional attachment to the medium always eventually drew me back in. I still get a kick out of finding a nice book, although I rarely purchase anything via auction.

Like much of life, collecting was a whole lot simpler (and cheaper) back then. :preach:

Last month zzutak allowed me to see these books in person. (worship)

A set of this quality is an extraordinarily difficult task to complete and I was appreciative that I had a chance to see these gems all gathered together.
