Captain George’s Memory Lane. Same for me as well, but I didn't discover the downtown stores until the late seventies ...... Dragon Lady, Silver Rail, Queen's Comics in the east I remember buying an ASM #7 as a 13 year old for $20-ish at Dragon Lady at the Queen St. West location, around 1980ish......... just loved staring at the awesome, but out-of-reach, books hanging on the walls ! Pantodude
Oh welp, for some reason my post with the "C_nt Comics #1" from 1969 was removed. That cover is a bit racy, to be sure, but quite extraordinary. Worthy of the SA in 1969. Comic-book wise, not so sure what else, except for Silver Surfer #4 (cover Feb 1969), but that hit the stands in November 1968. Scooby Doo #1 has a cover date Mar 1970, so it likely hit the stands in December 1969, so it counts! That's a biggie. Also Cap 110, 117, and Thor 165? And we can't forget Vampirella #1! Hopefully this passes censors. But if the books don't cut it, the Apollo moon landing counts for something! It was a magical time with great monster models; great gum cards; great Saturday morning cartoons; and of course great comics! I was born at the right time to buy Spider-Man #3 off the rack and MAD #72. Both rocked my world and are to blame for what I am today. And yes, Aurora Monster and Rat Fink models. Mars Attacks cards, skateboards with clay wheels and a Sting Ray bike not to mention the early Beatles and Rolling Stones. (God rest Charlie Watts). No cell phones, internet, hate in the world or covid. I am one blessed old geezer!

Plus side: Moon landing, Woodstock, Hippie girls. Seeing Hendrix along with maybe 1500 people at the top of his game. Getting my first car. Down side: War in Vietnam, Assination of Dr King and Bobby Kennedy, Anti war protests, The Manson murders. Never a dull moment. Although I’m sure I did, I can’t remember any specific comics I bought that year. Pantodude and ThothAmon
