I can think of several times when weapons were stolen and then recovered literally halfway across the US the next day. Yes indeed, as isn't this what happened with the Alfred Pennyworth books and the owner was extremely fortunate to recover them all in the end. Sounds as though this was the primary reason why he ended up putting them into the auction marketplace through Heritage after that fiasco. Hopefully, Richard is also able to recover his stolen books, even though they clearly aren't in the same caliber as the Pennyworth books as Richard was astute enough to have his more valuable books kept somewhere off-site or in a more secured vault. We have been plagued by smash and grab thieves as well as follow home robbery’s in my area. I have personally seen people just walk out of stores with stolen merchandise and no one stopping them. Unless a weapon is used, there is no prosecution. What has happened to us? And the large group that was caught were out before the police report was even written. kav
I'm sad bedrock got hit. everyone is. but the boards are not some morgue where everyone has to maintain a dead serious attitude. JollyComics
This is sickening. If it goes on all over places in USA, more businesses will not come back at all. Walgreens closed all 5 stores in SF. Those residents are depending on them. It can ruin the communities as well. Again, this is sickening and sadistic. Popular Post NewWorldOrder
Jaime Newbold (owner of SoCal Comics in San Diego) had his store broken into 2 times in 2021. The first time they hit up a bunch of other collectibles stores as well, all caught on video. Second time he got his stuff back, but he had to get new doors each time. 2nd time also there was blood on the floor from where the burglar cut himself on the glass where some of the CGC books were located. The problem is when you keep expensive books in the store over night you invite people during the day to come in and preview what they can come back and steal at night. Not saying any store owner is wrong for doing so as Jaime always keeps his really good stuff off property, but the rest of it is up for grabs in case of a break-in. It's all part of the risk of selling items that have value and owning a comic book store. The risk is really unavoidable and all you can do is minimize the risk the best you can when you leave each night. To be honest I thought right away in March of 2020......OMG people are going to get stuff stolen at a rate that impossible for cops to stop. I couldn't believe it didnt happened right away thank God at that kind of rate. I remember thinking all those businesses (Best Buys, Comic Book stores, small businesses etc) just have stuff sitting there 24 hours straight during lockdown with Joe blow security walking around with a flashlight. Don't even get me started about the disgrace of California right now when it comes to this stuff. Better to hire a criminal to catch a criminal now with how hamstrung our police force is right now. Robot Man
On the bright side (if there could be anything bright about this), smart business owners have insurance for this. But what a hassle to deal with. This in no way mitigates lying, cheating and stealing which has sadly become common place these days. My parents raised me better. There are folks who wern’t as lucky. I really feel for law enforcement. I’m many cases, the cop on the beat has their hands tied. No matter where you are, we are kind of on our own and that is a scary thought.
