I was hunting around in the local junk shop and picked up a giant square bound magazine and flipped through it quickly. I was about to put it back down when I got to the back cover and then it came home with me.

The magazine is Mondo Cult 3, published in 2012, packed full of articles on cult literature, movies, tv, magazines, etc. Here is the front cover, a painting of cult movie 'star' Rondo Hatton, talk about beauty and the beast!

Turning to pp. 418-419 of "The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta," we find "The Countess" across from a preliminary sketch based on Countess Krak from L. Ron Hubbard's "Mission Earth" series.  Oil on board, 16 x 24 in. (1988); it was acquired by the L. Ron Hubbard Library in Los Angeles, where it currently resides.

New one, first Heritage win in a long time, one dollar (forty after BP and shipping heh heh), gorgeous cover:

1931, a Dell one-shot pub. Magazine width but extra tall.  Heritage had the date as 1941 (show em something they haven't seen, and they're clueless half the time).  I can't make out the signature, thinking a Greek name, but it's killing me, not one of the usual suspects working on the scattered Dell pulps at the time but maybe an artist working on one of the Hollywood mags.  Some interior illustration inside, but nothing to write home about.  Lots of cool horoscopes, though:
