Favorite YouTubers Who Talk Comics? 2 2

There are quite a few YouTube channels that discuss comics, but I think my favorite has to be Comic Tropes hosted by Chris Piers. He's not posting content every day, but I've found his content well-researched and informative.

They actually make comics so it's more interesting hearing what they have to say about it all and they have big time connections with other comic creators and do tons of interviews with big names, underground artists and more and cover comics almost no one else does.

I find that whenever I come across someone who seems interesting and I subscribe.... It doesn't take long for me to get bored with their content, or their voice, or their attempts to turn a 2 minute comic book news story into a 30 minute video.  And I really don't care about anyone's personal collections or what they're sending for grading.  So while I could give a few names... it would probably become moot in a week or two.

I like Bronze Age Nerd, Automatic Comics, Comic Book Investments and Swagglehaus Comics.  All entertaining and informative.

I can't stand comic youtubers for the most part.  Especially speccy ones that use the terrible thumbnail surprise face and have RGB LEDs in their background.  The constant need for hype and energy is exhausting and embarrassing.

 

However, Cartoonist Kayfabe is legit, man.  Those two dudes are encyclopedias of comics (especially late 80s into the 90s...the part I have the most nostalgia for) and have the snaps on a lot inside baseball type stuff.   Comic Tropes is great for deep-diving but he can be a little too "comic book guy" at times.  I watch Very Gary and I don't even know why.  I don't think it's particularly interesting content but he's a pretty charming dude.

I like watching Very Gary's videos. Mint Hunter Comics seems like a nice dude, and I like some of his content so I usually watch most of his stuff too.

Casually Comics is probably my favorite. Sasha is entertaining and knowledgable.

I appreciate her even-handed approach to controversial topics like Supergirl Dating Her Horse.

I've been watching Regie's videos lately or, more specifically, listening to them while I work. I like his talking points and delivery. His topics are pretty much exactly what your every day collector wants to discuss, without all the flash.

That’s what I like about his content. It’s super informative and can be geared towards any type of collector.

I catch comictom101 and mint hunter comics.  Also catch some of the mystery box unveilings as I was considering purchasing a few.  But after seeing some of the drek they get, I'm hesitant.   The Dorkerys do seem to have consistently good boxes.

Automatic comics and Comictom101 both are interesting

TeamCGC9.8 is great as it shows grade ratios and I collected a lot of the same books late 80s early 90s. ComicTom101 is worth a watch as they have a pretty good schtick with hottest comics covering all the ages/categories.

I enjoy watching  Comictropes, Comics with Bueller, and Captain Strangelife. I watch Comictom101 to see what books are going up in value, but I don't care for how they hype books and I'm at the age where the phrase "hot damm comic fam" doesn't really gel with me.

RegieCollects stretches out what can be said in 2 mins into an hour, takes forever to get to the point. I like Comic Book Investments, he had an excellent interview with his father Mark Wilson. Most comic youtubers just try and hype books up, typically more modern spec books and makes me wonder if any of these "experts" have ever spent more than $500 on a book. Most of them just say "Pick up this book cause a movie is coming" then go and play with their t-shirt press they got off of Amazon for $100 and make a video showing you how to press cause like a teenager who just got his driver's license last week, will make a youtube video and will show you how to drive.

Regie really doesn't say much.  Dave from Comic Book Investments has been quite impressive for a relatively young guy, as is Brian from Bri's Comics.  Also, i like Comic Tom -- he is quite entertaining and usually has a sidekick where the two of them are always calling out new GPA highs on keys.  It's informative and fun to watch.  These guys represent the next-gen in the hobby, and i wish them much success.
