We are in good company.  Let's start our own grading clan

I said this when the contest was announced and I still hope it'll drive more boardies to PGM and the great books that are posted there daily.

It's great to sharpen skills, see other perspectives, have fun and give back to the community.

Here are the key statistics for the 1st CGC Grading Contest (Mean = the average grade; Median = the middle grade in the ordered list; Mode = the most common grade):

Book CGC Board Grade Dist Statistics
# Grade Mean Median Mode
1 5.0 4.1 4.0 4.0
2 3.0 2.9 3.0 3.0
3 7.0 6.5 6.5 7.5
4 9.0 8.3 8.5 8.5
5 9.4 9.2 9.4 9.4
6 1.5 1.5 1.5 1.0
7 6.5 7.2 7.5 8.0
8 4.5 4.8 4.5 4.5
9 7.0 7.0 7.0 7.0
10 9.2 9.2 9.4 9.4
11 3.0 2.3 2.0 2.0
12 4.5 4.2 4.0 4.0
13 5.0 5.4 5.5 5.0
14 8.5 7.9 8.0 8.5
15 3.5 4.0 3.5 3.5

Book #11 (Wings Comics #1) was the only Round 3 book for which CGC was more than one grade increment removed from all three measures of central tendency (Mean, Median, and Mode).  It's pure speculation on my part, but I suspect most boardies have had relatively little experience grading "a solid mid-grade copy, but for a 4" spine split." :ohnoez:

Thank you Mike for allowing me to participate in my first grading competiton, when I was breaking the rules in the first two rounds by posting my grades for all and sundry to see, when I did not know that a PM was for you and not Boris!

I can only appreciate how much work you have had to put in to keep this bunch of renegades in line, so thank you again.

Good luck to those who made it through to the Tie-break.

I will keep a close eye on the results and look forward to being allowed to compete again sometime soon as I am interested in the gradings and I have a loft full of 60's, 70's and 80's comics that need some airing.
