Setting

The Simpsons takes place in the fictional American town of Springfield in an unknown and impossible-to-determine U.S. state. The show is intentionally evasive in regard to Springfield's location.[14] Springfield's geography, and that of its surroundings, contains coastlines, deserts, vast farmland, tall mountains, or whatever the story or joke requires.[15] Groening has said that Springfield has much in common with Portland, Oregon, the city where he grew up.[16] The name "Springfield" is a common one in America and appears in at least 29 states.[17] Groening has said that he named it after Springfield, Oregon, and the fictitious Springfield which was the setting of the series Father Knows Best. He "figured out that Springfield was one of the most common names for a city in the U.S. In anticipation of the success of the show, I thought, 'This will be cool; everyone will think it's their Springfield.' And they do."[18]

From the latest info that I could find, there are 36 states with a Springfield in them.

But only one of them has a mural catalog like this.

Bright Oak Meats Building.  7th and A. St.

Bright Oak Meats btw has the best jerky around.  The Sweet and Spicy is my favorite but there are 15 other flavors to be tried here at this butcher shop and meat market.

Many of these murals are from episodes of the show, but I have not seen them all and don't know some of the references.

Sardarni's Kitchen between 4th and 5th on Main.

South side of Ducko's Custom Frame shop on 5th.  I was in here recently getting a BWS print framed and Bayne, the artist for all these murals was in there.  I chatted him up for 4 or 5 sentences (ha ha kav) before he departed, and I did my framing business with the owner.

Here is another Mr. Burns, on the back of the White Cloud Jewlers building, but I don't know the episode reference.  He looks like a ghost or something.  Did Mr. Burns die in a show ?

The 3 eyed fish seems to be a regular idea.  Must be some kind of a pollution issue episode.

North side of Ducko's Frame Shop on 5th and "A" st.  and two alley murals on the south side of Memo's Mexican food, 7th and South "A".

When the show came out, I was Bart's age. 3 years ago, I was Homer's age. Next up is.... Grampa Simpson. :sorry:

I started college right as the 2nd season began, and each episode was an Event. Half our dorm would be crammed into the TV room to watch. Today it's been around forever, but it did feel pretty groundbreaking in those early seasons.
