I love how you can see the print impression of the inside cover.  They struck that page HARD.

Flash.... A-HA!!!!

Klytus... I'm bored.  What play-thing have you for me?

An obscure body from the complimentary variety, your majesty.

Cheers, OE

or you can blow it up real big at Flickr here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/197841258@N07/53895913468

the full section:

https://archive.org/details/columbus-sunday-star-comics-section-1939-06-11-darwin

which wraps this tabloid:

https://archive.org/details/columbus-sunday-star-v-05n-44-1937-03-14-darwin-ia

well, not exactly THIS tabloid.  I've yet to find a full section with both the tabloid and comic section from the same day.  A fascinating, perhaps one-of-a-kind, newspaper.

I grabbed a reasonably priced Comic-O-Rama #1113:

IMG_20240810_104326545.thumb.jpg.67384eab42d002d3ae3c57f01f4e869e.jpg

The outer cover front consisting of (obviously) Flash Gordon #4 and the back cover is a portion of Flash Gordon #5:

Interiors of the cover (AND all interior covers) are simply blank, and the first of the four bound copies is....  Flash Gordon #5!!!  #10 if you want to go by the Editions Heritage numbering.  The cover stock on the outer cover and the inner covers are all very nice gloss heavy weight - perhaps 100 pound?

Interior of the first issue (as you'd expect)...  FG5, but in BLACK AND WHITE!!  Sweet.  :cloud9:

And finally,

WHAT THE????  O.o

They couldn't just continue the sequence and give me #7?  And I love that they went from 10 down rather than 8 up, but I suppose the ordered sequence better aligns with the USA print order.
