If you're going after those, might I suggest a small adjacent challenge and include the Liz Taylor covers

The comics in the original post are actually mine.  I was just wondering if I had all the MM photo covers.

How many photo covers does Liz Taylor have, do you know?

I do know.  The Girl Comics is the most desirable.

Girl Comics 3

Film Stars Romances 2

Famous Stars 5

New Romances 11

Great Lover Romances 15

True Movie and Television 1

Miss America V4#3

Sweet Sixteen 4

Thanks for the list.  I've gotten to the point in my life where I've gotten most of the comics I want.  The last couple of years I've been finishing up some last runs (Sandman, Swamp Thing ....).  My only collecting goal right now is Matt Baker covers, and they are hard to come by (as I'm sure you know).  There's the current Heritage auction that I'm following, but I'm sure the ones I want will be out of my price range -- as my sights are on retirement and my priority is travel, not comics, there's only so high I'll go.  At some point in your life, at least for me, your priorities become experiences, not comic books.

But this list is fun.  My parents loved Elisabeth Taylor so it'll be special from that point of view.  And it's only 8 comics.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I've heard quite a few guys express similar thoughts. Most older guys I've known seem to lose interest in collecting around age 65.

It makes me wonder whether I'll lose interest in collecting when I reach that age. I'm 48, so I have 17 years to go. Right now I feel like I'm in the hobby for life, but I think that a lot of guys felt that way—until they didn't.

I just turned 60 this year.  I guess I've have lost interest in comic collecting, but I think mostly because I have most of what I want.  Since covid hit, I've been working on completing runs I started years and years ago.  Below I've listed the titles I've completed the last couple of years.  At this point in my life, I don't have the energy to start new big runs, like ECs or pre-hero Marvel.  So that's why I like the idea of a small run like the E. Taylor photo covers.

I'm still trying to get a copy of every comic with a Matt Baker cover.  I'm also trying to get a copy of every Dennis the Menace comic ever published.  I've hit a brick wall with both -- the comics I need are hardly ever offered for sale.  I probably have a better chance of finishing the Dennis goal as, when the comics do turn up for sale, they don't cost much.  Baker obviously is much different.

My biggest grail right now is to find anything signed by both Bettie Page and Dave Stevens.  You'd think there would be something as they were friends, but I've never seen anything.

My wife often says I still spend a ton of money on comics.  That's true.  Finishing some of the runs were expensive.  Also, when I do buy something, it tends to be expensive.  Like, my favorite character has always been Spider-man.  I'm missing 2 key issues:  Amazing Fantasy 15 -- and I'll never get that one, it's gotten too expensive.

And ASM 129 -- I have a coverless copy but I wanted a nice copy. So I finally got a nice copy last year and it was pretty expensive as you can imagine.

Now for an additional challenge, add in the books with back cover photos of Marilyn. I was flipping through a couple books and noticed this for the first time.

Somebody should tell that guy that's he's supposed to stand a little farther back, or his bullseye doesn't count.

Wow.  I LOVE ebay so much!  :flamed:  That book didn't even register in my daily searching.  They've completely fuddled the search engine.
