I’m thinking BLACK FLAG jumped the TAT line....the same way influencers() jumped the line at the con.

If people wanted to put pressure on CGC, now would be the time to demand books be returned en masse by customers. If they are going to let a reseller jump the line and get their books graded while your books are there for years, that seems beyond the pale to me.

It’s ok to leave some meat on the bone....

It depends who you sell it to I guess. If it's to a close friend or somebody who isn't a flipper, sure. If that's not the case, I personally would like to get the most money out of the book just so I could use it towards a book I want. You could also trade which is a great solution!

My OCD just won't let this go...  it's called the "In God We Trust" Acetate edition... that's wrong.  The writing on the Acetate says "In God We Intrust".  Can CGC change the labels going forward?

"intrust"? Were these printed in China? That's not the modern usage of "entrust".

Gawd. This whole thing looks so ghetto. I cannot believe people are lined up 500 people deep to buy something like this. Leave out the issue that it’s a reprint and a variant - It’s not even executed well.

Deep Throat was a man named Mark Felt, second in command at the FBI. He was not a journalist. He named himself after the popular porn film of the day after becoming a source to Woodward. He was a party acquaintance of Bob Woodward and Woodward contact him with help in the Watergate story and Felt became a source.

I have no idea what this 73 pages are about not do I care. I’m sure it’s regarding variant BS. The only post of the 73 pages I clicked on was saying that Deep Throat was a journalist. This is incorrect.

Should exhibitors and influencers and people who are in the building get to line-up and purchase exclusives and limited items before it opens to the general public?  Isn't the purpose of these shows to sell to the general public?  And I understand that it's hard to police, and some of these sellers are more than happy to sell and may not sell out without selling to exhibitors and influencers.

Certainly when an exhibitor/influencer buys up 75 copies of a book and many people waiting in-line miss out it's certainly not a good look.  And if that exhibitor/influencer is buying most of those copies for other exhibitors/influencers who aren't at the front of that line isn't that a form of line cutting?

No, I think that should be banned. I've been against pre-show vulturing of books and deals by exhibitors and vendors before any of the VIP ticket holders or general admission ticket holder are allowed in.  I was listening to Thoro Comics breakdown of Gem's youtube and one of his guests, Tito from Kingdom Comics, shared this same opinion that NO ONE should be allowed to buy con exclusives before the doors open to general attendees. Con exclusives are for the fans and attendees of the show, not the dealers and exhibitors.  He went further to state that the practice of exhibitors selling to exhibitors before the show opens to the general public should also be stopped.  It isn't fair to people coming for deals when all the deals have been scooped up and are now being forced to pay secondary convention market prices before the show even opens.   I wholeheartedly agree with this but I doubt anyone would be able to police that.  The only way would be to let everyone start going in when they allow the dealers to enter to start setting up.

He says this around the 1:40:00 mark.

Well these prices have escalated quite a bit... can we now add shill bidding to the list of atrocities going on with this book?

This was to be expected as soon as all the controversy started brewing.  I predicted as much somewhere in the first 10 pages.

I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what happened with CGC here.  Lots of talk about a cash grab, and selling grades.  All this for a 30 book submission?  Seems like a massive risk to take for a miniscule reward.  It's really baffling.

From my perspective, CGC made a poor decision on how to treat it either out of their own sheer stupidity (something that's become expected given the boneheaded grading that appears in the "What was CGC thinking" thread), or they were lied to by Black Flag.  Honestly, both seem valid given Black Flag's original response which has since been removed.  CGC then had the audacity to double down not once, but twice.  The best thing they could do is admit they made a mistake, but for whatever reason, they continue to insist they're in the right.

From an email conversation someone posted a few dozen pages back, it sounds like CGC Exec's are having "discussions" about it and @CGC Mike has chosen (or been told by his bosses) to not communicate anything at this time.
