shadroch
I have a set of bound comics that Marvel did for a Diamond summit in the 1990s. It's a three volume set that seems to include every comic published that month. All the other bound books I've come across were aftermarket ones, made by individuals. Are there examples of other modern company produced bound American comics? I have a few French language books that appear to be leftovers bound together, and a Fawcett X-Mas book , but are there other moderns?
mtracy64
I have a bound edition of Vampirella Morning In America 1 - 4. The details are fuzzy now, but my understanding when I bought it is that it wasn't ever available in stores. I paid attention to modern Vampirellas for maybe five years in the early 2000's and only saw it available the one time.

Were there any particularly notable books published that month?

I'm afraid I have no new information, but I'd love to see them if you ever wanted to share a pic, that sounds very cool! Update: just found them on ebay, very cool! mjoeyoung
Definitely very cool. Are these actually produced comics that were then chopped up and bound in a volume? From what I can see on ebay, it seems more like a trade paperback reprinting.

I'm guessing you've got the 1992 Marvel retailer summit 3 vol. bound volumes (missing all covers, right?). Here's two others that come quickly to mind: * Man of Steel 1-6 was bound into a SC as a contest prize. * DC bound unreleased stats into "Cancelled Comics Calvacade". aardvark88

mjoeyoung
If you search for "marvel comics retailer conference" on ebay, there are a few for sale. bronze_rules

It was a Raffle Prize that was awarded to those who were drawn in a Raffle that sent in the survery cards found in a few comics such at the Direct Edition of Superman #1 . There are two versions of this book. One for the winning customer and the store the Customer mentioned on the survey card. I actually worked on getting CGC to acknowledge both as there is a physical difference in which version of MOS #1 was bound into the book. Here you can see the whole thing laid out in my journal. Thank you for this post. I always learn something from you and usually it is identifying something I don't have that I want. But in this case I learned that I have something I didn't know I had. I did not know there were two different editions. By accident I have both of these raffle editions. I purchased one years ago and it was a little damaged on one corner due to poor packaging and they sent me another copy. Brock
A few other quick examples of company-bound books: Marvel UK regularly produced bound editions of their titles in the 1970s, wrapping them in a new cover with the title “Marvel Collection”; cover colour and content can vary widely Editions Heritage was a Canadian company that had licenses in the 1970s and 1980s to produce French-language editions of Marvel and DC titles for the French Canadian market; they frequently released bound editions onlyweaknesskryptonite and aardvark88

Ironically, not easy to find in the UK. No two are exactly alike. Thorpe & Porter also did some bound remaindered 'Annuals' & others in the late 60's, early 70's. Here's one I had - They're basically just a handful of random, not even exclusively DC books that were lying around the distribution warehouse. Detective 359 & Batman 181 are known inclusions. Kicking myself for selling this one. They're hard to come by in decent shape, though the insides tend to be nice, thanks to the board covers. They also did the 'Double Double' series, which was the same idea, but without the covers intact. djzombi, Get Marwood & I and greggy 1
