The damage he shows on the books appear as the books were forced or pulled out and that is from a thumb doing so. Timmay did not start any of this even contacting me until days after USPS showed the item as being delivered to him which now he states a date that USPS showed as later then they showed it delivered on my end. Fact is buyers remorse he got over $400.00 books for well under $200, Iron Man #9 variant even in poor ungraded condition is more then the price he paid for all books. |And instead of contacting politely he just went in stating straight out it was my fault and he wanted a full refund. Would not give me time to contact or file a claim with USPS or even view images. And every sales thread he kept placing "Dont ignore me in", causing loss of business so if someone chooses to put me on probation list they should him as well, because he has bought before and specified he wanted them shipped a certain way and it was done that way is it the sellers fault he was trying to get books and shipping as cheap as he could this time and now Im being targeted instead of admitting he messed up. Sorry longshot, this won't age well. I'm sorry, this is your fault. Your packaging is awful and inadequate. A bubble mailer and two thin pieces of cardboard is not near enough protection and will sometimes result in damage as it clearly did here. Always package comics securely between two thick pieces of cardboard, wrap that sandwich with bubblewrap, place that sandwich in a box surrounded with more bubblewrap or peanuts. That keeps the comics in the center of the box surrounded on all sides with multiple layers of protection. How good a deal Timmay got on the books doesn't matter. You agreed on a price. How much shipping cost or how much you lost shipping them doesn't matter. It's up to you to charge enough to cover shipping the books safely. As an aside, Timmay is a long time collector and board member. He's done many transactions on the boards without a problem. He's honest and trustworthy. If he tells you the books arrived damaged you should believe him. newshane, Beige, Cat and 14 others

I’d kinda like to see proof that the books were actually insured for $200+ I’m skeptical that someone who would ship these books via media mail would actually pay the extra fees to insure the package for the full value. Popular Post wombat
I've bought probably a hundred different times on the boards if not more. I have never had to tell a seller how I wanted the books packaged. I'm also not sure I have ever gotten packaging that bad that I can remember. Popular Post KCOComics
I have nothing to contribute that hasn't already been said, but this looks pretty straightforward. The books were poorly packed and damage occurred during shipping as a result. The right thing to do is refund the order and have the damaged books sent back. You say in the listing the books are insured to cover for any shipping mishaps. You obviously wrote that to give customers peace of mind. Regardless of if the package is actually insured, you have an obligation to deliver on your commitments. However, the more I continued reading this thread, the more p!ssed off it made me ; so to keep from going on a HUGE R&V, I'll just add this: Pack and Ship ANY books you sell (to at least) the SAME degree you'd want books you buy shipped to you. Seems pretty frickin' simple, yeah ? ashsaytr, jimjum12, Point Five and 3 others
universal soldier
I just got a bunch of books from @jjfversion1 wrapped so tight it took me 10 minutes to open the packaging after wading through the bubble wrap. No way those books were moving a centimeter. Clearly these books were were not close to shipped that way. If there is one thing I've learned here is that you can't cheap out on the packing supplies and yeah, don't reuse the boxes. ashsaytr and Dr. Balls
Readcomix
It’s my understanding that if one is filing an insurance claim, you’ll eventually need the books back to collect. My postmaster says that if usps pays out an insurance claim they keep the item(s). He also says payouts on damaged collectibles can be tough to achieve as they want proof of claimed value. (Eg - Third-party appraisal). I have luckily never had to test the process so I don’t have personal experience, but he has always given me this specific guidance before selling me any. Sounds like from what you describe the bar is in fact high for successful claims but not near as high as he has described to me! jimjum12

DougC
I don't understand cheaping out on shipping; a medium flat rate priority box is $15 and you can double box with a 1092 & 1095 then customize the internal packaging and pay for none of it! You can literally order as many free boxes, mailers, and tubes until they ask you to knock it off, then do it again after 30 days. The money "saved" versus the risk of media mail is never worth it, no matter how many times you have gotten away with it previously.
