Popular Post THE_BEYONDER
Owned this series forever, but never got around to reading it. The first 6 books of 2023 I enjoyed this series. Thought Miller’s art worked great. Characters and story kept me invested. Wanted a little more out of Book Six, but overall a pretty enjoyable read. srezvan
54 comics so far this year. GI Joe continues to recover from some of the mediocre middle of the run issues. Some standout issues in this volume. Marvels Snapshots X-Men was a quick and interesting read that ties Cyclops's origin to the start of the Marvel Universe. Popular Post Norrin_Radd
Read The Black Island (1937 - 62 pgs). A Tintin story with less twists and turns as usual where he is following some nefarious individuals and stumbles upon a counterfeiting ring. The trail ends in Scotland and the mysterious Black Island where he encounters a gorilla and the armed counterfeiters. But the resourceful Tintin gets the upper hand and radios the police to arrest them. Unfortunately, the copy I have to read is a reprint from the 60s where some of the cars are more modern. Would like to read the original black and white version from the 30s. The old cars are one of my favorite elements in the stories along with the settings. srezvan, Ken Aldred, Raze and 2 others

In my opion the book really drops off after the Return of the Jedi mini and when Han is out of carbonite and back in the series. By issue 82 I think the book was in a death spin which keep getting worse with each issue until they put it out of it's misery with 107. That being said growing up issue 17, 26 , and 47 where some of my favorite issues in comics at a young age. This is the first time I've finally did a complete read through of the series and it held up pretty well. I enjoyed the read for the nostalgia and the art and stories were pretty good. ttfitz
End of January count was 105. So, on to February.... Fantastic Four 232-233Avengers 210-212Marvel Teamup 108-110Amazing Spider-Man 219-221Spectacular Spider-Man 57-60 Bronze Age Marvel just keeps rollin' Invincible 14-19 There are highs and lows with this book, but overall I'm still enjoying. I mean, if both Kurt Busiek AND Mark Waid say read it, I gots ta read it! Monstress 9-15 I'm enjoying this book, even though I get a bit confused at all the players and all the stages. Y The Last Man 49-60 Still my least favorite Brian K. Vaughan series, but I gotta say, that issue 60 was perhaps one of the finest finales I've ever read. The Ones 1-4 A fun and often amusing read. If you like Bendis, I think you'll like this One. (see what I did there?) Shirtless Bear Fighter 2 #1-7 Fun at times, but not nearly as good as the original series. If you haven't read any of these, I'd highly recommend the first one (available on Hoopla if you are so inclined) but probably skip this sequel. Okay, if I've done my maths right, that's an additional 51, for a yearly total of 156. Not as far along as I had hoped to be at this point. Norrin_Radd
Read King Ottokar's Sceptre (1938 - 62 pgs). A classic Tintin story full of political intrigue, exotic foreign lands, interesting characters, and even an evil twin. Love the king's black Packard (or Ottokar's autocar ). I've been watching the animated series version after reading the stories and the car is prominently featured. srezvan, Ken Aldred and Raze

srezvan
Thulsa Doom TPB was a bit of a disappointment. Described as an origin story, the plot was very choppy. The art style was also very 90s-like and doesn't fit with the sword and sorcery-themed Conan universe. RayJr, Ken Aldred and Raze

srezvan
I'm up to 72 comics so far this year. A bit behind pace, but I hope to catch up. GI Joe Volume 12: One of the better volumes in the series. Some actual consequences (i.e., deaths) when missions go bad. Cobra Commander is much more interesting in the comic than in the cartoon. My complaints are minor, mostly related to the never-ending flow of ninjas and the introduction of Cesspool and Headmaster at the end, who I don't think are really interesting characters.
