When You Are Given a Captain America 1 9 9

I purchased a lot yesterday.   I was told that there was a page from Cap America 1 included in a folder, thrown in because it wasn’t “worth much”.  
I was excited to have a piece of history, but imagine the look on my face when I pulled this out from between a few pages of CA 1!

Holy moly no way!! So the front cover was tucked in between the loose pages?  Congrats man!

kinda reminded me of a story that someone posted on here where he found an Action 1 book inside the pages of a Time magazine

Congrats!!!! Some collectors search their entire lives for diamonds in the rough like that, quite the find!!

Guys, I used to laugh at PG books, and Incomplete books, but I suddenly have a responsibility I am not prepared for.  Please, help the future of this sad but historic piece of our past.  I need guidance, honestly.  I’m not going to pretend to be King of the Hill.  I love comics but this is beyond experience.  Please, if one of the really experienced admins or someone with a solid past with this type of book.  Check my stats, I’m not brand new, and I participate, but not in this sandbox. .  Any practical advice will be greatly appreciated.  I’m talking storage, condition issues (it pleasantly smells of maple syrup, which is what seems to have spilled on it), should they be split, submitted,  etc.

I'd be willing to trade straight-up for my Flaming Carrot run if that's more in your comfort zone.

I’d start selling off irrelevant spoon and build a war chest for a coverless Cap 1. I’d hold the loose pages in case I needed them to complete a coverless incomplete. When/If I got a complete interior, I’d then sell them off to recoup a bit. (Actually, I’d probably tell myself that during the hunt, then keep them too anyway. )

I wouldn't say it for most books, but for this kind of find I would send it to CGC just to get it authenticated first. Then you can choose if you want to try and clean it up or marry it, etc.

Very nice December 15 (12-15) arrival date in upper left corner of the cover. Cap 1 had an official release date of 12-20-40.

If this were me, I would bag and board the pages and cover together and store with the rest of my comics. Dark, temperature controlled closet....

Then I would spend the next 40 years in desperate pursuit of the rest of the pages.  

That's just me!! Awesome find! The colors look great on the cover.

Agreed.  Keep everything and try to piece a copy together.  You have what I consider to be a find of a lifetime for collectors.
