I knocked the Veronica pretty hard because I also thought I was seeing a fold/bend on the bottom corner, which I guess was a scanner issue? However, I can't pretend that that would have saved my overall score after I whiffed on a couple of others. Ended up pretty much in the middle of the pact, as expected. Let's see if I can do better next round!

edit: Thanks @CGC Mike for the enlarged scoring update, much appreciated! Even when double-clicking the original post, these tired eyes were having a hard time making out the scores.

Well said Triple F :)

And let's not forget everyone how much work Mike puts into this competition for us every quarter. He has to manage the personal mail responses from all 130 participants as well as all those that relate to his other duties. Imagine what that inbox of his looks like! We're dealing with just ourselves - he's dealing with all of us!

Let's all try to help him by keeping our grading responses to the point, with no additional commentary - just the book grades - and all in the one email that he sent us all when the competition started.

Meanwhile, in other news, I'm currently beating Yozzer and the King of Australia.

Again.

@AJD @Yorick

Your new "copy & paste" format rocks!  :headbang:  It's the format you should use for posting ranked lists from now on.  (thumbsu  (thumbsu

I will do that.    You will need to scroll from left to right when we get more rounds under our belt. (ultra wide page)  But, the text will remain readable.

I am think strongly per Round anyone who gets a 5/5 bullseyes should get at least $100 grading credit!  :flipbait:Any mathmeticians out there to figure the odds?  And I think everyone involved would heartily approve of this being a retroactive decision by Mike.

In our annual football pool this past year we went from 12 picks a week to 15 picks a week (we pick 18 weeks and have 1st/2nd/3rd weekly prizes and then a year-end season totals 1st/2nd/3rd that pay out 60/30/10 percentages of the pot).  We pick any 15 games from the entire College and NFL games/lines vs the spread.  We have a standing reward of $500 for anyone with a perfect scorecard.  Of course, since the pool is finite, this has to be extracted from the season totals kitty.  (In this case Mike can just add the reward.).  Sure enough, like week 3 someone hit 15/15.  Odds are roughly 33,000 to 1.  If he would've bet $10 in Vegas would've paid $100000!

Hey, Tom.  :hi:  I'm not a mathematician, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express once.  :ohnoez:

To date, we've had 20 Contest Rounds.  We've had 2 "perfect" (5 bulls-eye) submissions in 2278 attempts.  Hence, a "perfect" round has happened about 0.09% of the time.  And now, for the disclaimer: past performance is no guarantee of future results.  Collectively, the Board has become better at predicting CGC grades.

Finally, as a neanderthal, I am firmly opposed to "new" rules (either bonuses or penalties) being retroactively applied.  One man's opinion.  :preach:

I think hitting five bullseyes is a pure luck. I haven’t gotten three bullseyes at one round in last 6 contests.

According to Mike's grade distribution table, only 120 players completed Round 1 (down from 131 at sign-up).  Here are the key measures of central tendency for this round (Mean = the average grade; Median = the middle grade in a numerically rank-ordered list; Mode = the most common grade):

Being a "numbers guy", I really appreciate all the work this took.

That being said, I keep counting the number of players who completed round 1 and I keep coming up with 121.

Am I miscounting?

If you're looking at Mike's "revised" ranked list, no (N = 121).  If you're looking at his grade distribution table, yes (N = 120).  Mike did not include JollyComics' submission when he initially posted the Round 1 results.  (thumbsu

aaahhh.  Thank you.  I knew there had to be something off, because I had counted it before reading your post and then I saw your post and figured I had miscounted, so I counted several more times and couldn't get to 120.  Thought maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me.  I appreciate you clearing that up.
