I’m actually more curious if a new slab design will need to be released asap in order to put this behind them.

This should be one of their top priorities.   Stop all encapsulation until a new case is ready to roll.  If not you're just sending out more bad ones.

Then have a voluntary recall of all existing cases.  If I were them I would want as many of these cases off the market as possible.   If not, there will always be scams given how easy book swaps are which CGC will be on the hook for given their guarantee.

Take the financial hit doing a recall or deal with scams for years to come, the financial loss of compensating folks and potential law suits, legal fees and so forth.  Seems like a no brainer to me.

Given the videos floating around about how easy it is to crack a slab, there’s no way for them to avoid it. A new slab design is going to be the first thing they announce, long before we learn any details of the scam or the scope of it.

Can you post a video on how you personally can crack out a slab perfectly?

Or show a link from youtube?

So you want CGC to stop grading all new submissions of comics for maybe a year or so?

In that year of R&D CGC can lay off employees to save money, while also having graders for free re-grade 7-8 million graded comics, and then when the new cases come all those books get reholdered for FREE before any new CGC grading can start again?

Then when they reopen have a backlog that would make the COVID TaT's look like same day TaT.

Like that?

Yeah for sure thats what CGC is going to do......lol

Seems like a lot of people posting are expecting a Brand New Slab implemented immediately like they can just be fabricated out of thin air.

Just be prepared for what they settle on as their fix.

Still waiting on this easy to do process to crack out where I cant tell.

That is obvious tampering.  The older generation of slabs, especially the first generation were way easier than that.

Is there a better video posted anywhere?  That's an 0-1

While I agree that so far no one has posted a video of cracking out a case that doesn't appear to be tampered with, the real issue with most of this isn't that they needed to look completely unmolested.  1 cracked corner or broken side would still resemble shipping /etc damage and allow a book to be resubmitted for ME or reholder.  Which is what is believed to be this specific scammers MO.

For sure, but that literally is an easy button at CGC to fix in 5 minutes by just having whomever deals with ME or reholder's have a fail safe process in place.  Something was obviously not happening and I sure now going forward it will.

I mean every year that CGC has been open any reholder/ME of a HULK #181 the employee should be checking the book real quick for the MVS stamp, same for Mark Jewelers inserts.   That is where CGC is to blame for sure.

Agreed.  As was mentioned pages ago, sure a lot of this has happened as CGC really wasn't prepared to scale to demand. No excuses.  They just could and have not been able to handle their business effectively.  Years ago they blamed it on CON season. Then surges from price increases/ etc . Instead of sticking to their process and values  they tried to speed up the process and spot check items. Which has led us to where we are now.
