I think that's them creating a business (LLC) in VT.

They also just opened one in Scottsdale, AZ on 2-Jan: https://opencorpdata.com/us-az/23624236

Is this some way of hiding liability under their LLC(s)? i.e., if they knew CGC was onto them and they'd eventually end up in court, is this a preemptive attempt at limiting their own personal liabilities?

OHHHH YES, LLC to hide behind LOL. This kinda shows they are guilty, and seems a little late to do that, I mean can they hide all possessions after the crime???  I think maybe not, but good try.

Seems conducting your personal business through an LLC provides no protection against a trademark verdict..LOL

Also setting up after the fact seems shady, might be a mistake.

Maybe they are thinking about the future crimes they might do, better late than never I guess.

Generally federal trademark cares aren’t decided on “seems shady” grounds.

That's pretty interesting, and coincidentally, the owner of CBS also filed in NY for a new LLC in early  December.

Is it possible that somehow the CGC census gets fixed to new totals? After all there are a lot less legit out there, and over time, "maybe the stigma" on certain books will wear off?

I'm not sure, but ASM 300 in 9.8 was still only like 2 % of the total, equaling only under 2k or thereabouts. Perhaps that saving grace will reconstitute value in the future.

Probably not an immediate hope, but is "something", idk

Wow, an awful lot to unpack here...

- 2000 total CGC submissions with a gross declared value of $4 million from the scammer

- the CGC list of roughly 370 books includes only reholder submissions... but reference is made to scammers selling directly swapped books in addition to reholdered ones

- scammers partial use of Comic Book Station's CGC submission account in violation of CGC policy

- ComicLink advancing "thousands of dollars" to scammers for a December consignment that included swapped books

- confirmation that the collecting community's investigative efforts is what brought the scam to light (congrats to all for your hard work!)

- confirmation that the scammer learned his (and her) plot was unraveling from our board discussions, prompting a desperate attempt to get his tainted submissions returned to him from CGC

There's plenty more... would be great if we could get the entire court filing.
