My brother-in-law found this book in the family attic.  Thought I would get it graded for him.

Nice book.  VG to VG/F.  Check that it has the centerfold which is a pinup and often missing.

4.0. C/P won't do anything to improve the grade. Lots of color breaking defects. Not much evidence of surface grime

It might but possible not enough to increase the grade?  Me personally, i would not do it

Looks like you have 3.5/4.0 depending on graders mood.

4.0, but if it's C/P'd reeeally well I could see 4.5. Lots of positives, and the slight color mottling in the red doesn't always get dinged as much as one might think.

I personally get silver age keys like this graded.  Especially if I didn't pay anything for it. I see where a 4.0 recently sold for well over the cost of grading on the most popular auction site.

I hear what you saying but not sure that is the best standard for determining whether or not to grade. The question is “does the value of the book increase by more than the total cost of grading?” “Value” and “cost” are loosely defined and a relative terms here. Marginal cost vs. marginal benefit. That being said, I would definitely be sending it in for grading. I really like this book!
