"Mask Camaro Sweepstakes" DC Comics Insert

I was recently searching for Mark Jewelers Inserts when I came across a Newsstand copy of Superman #421 from July of 1986 with the following insert.

it's probably the longest insert I've seen in a comic at 12 glossy pages. I also found one in Tales of the Teen Titans #66 from June of 1986, this one being a direct edition. Anyone know anything about it?

An action figure/cartoon TV show/comic book tie-in. From Wikipedia, without any sources listed:

Quote

The first M.A.S.K. comics were three mini-comics produced by Kenner that were packaged with the vehicles from the first series of toys in 1985. After the success of the franchise, DC Comics picked up the rights and produced a special insert which appeared in several comic books dated September and November 1985 to launch a four-issue miniseries (December 1985 – March 1986). This was soon followed by another insert in comics dated from June to November 1986 and a regular series that lasted nine issues (February–October 1987).

I had the toy of that MASK Camaro as a kid.  I ended up trading it for Motley Crue's Theater of Pain on cassette which led to my rapid descent to juvenile delinquency.

And now I'm obligated to link the single greatest song in the history of mankind.

Yeah, because most of the people who entered that contest probably weren't old enough to even drive, let alone be entrusted with a Camaro.

A lot of contests have an option to take a cash-equivalent of the prize.  I wonder if whoever one this had their parents step in and say "Nah, we're taking the cash to pay for collage, braces, etc."

At least they made it clear that the Camara was "for your parents" while you get stuck with the toys. Don't want to get those hopes up too high!

Ok.  Here we go:

1. I wonder who put those kids up to posing in their Mask "jammies" and what those kids are doing now?

2. If a comic book received the Mask mini comic book, then every single issue of that comic book (both direct and newsstand) contained the insert.  In other words, if the insert is missing then it was removed from the comic book and the comic book is not complete.  Examples include Batman 397, Superman 421, Justice League of America 254, and Green Lantern 204.

 3.  If a comic book received the Mask mini comic book, then they never attempted to add a Mark Jeweler advertising insert on top of it or instead of it (they probably didn't want to interrupt the flow of the Mask comic book with a jeweler insert, or something like that)
