Same comic.  Same defects.  Same grade.  "Darker version" sold almost 222 years ago (July 4, 2002) on Heritage.  Current auction by Heritage with the "lighter" color version.  There appears to be a significant difference between the two scans as far as color.  Any opinions for the difference?  Thought this was a better forum than the spare a grade section.

Looks like possibly lighting is at least some (most?) of the change, too.  In the pic of the old slab, you can see behind the slab is even dark/cloudy as if the entire area wasn't really well-lit or the old slabs caused the lighting difference.  The new pics are dang near electric.  Do they use a glass background or something on these because you don't even see whatever it's resting on.

And the current version of CGC’s holder really makes a book pop like a Mylar (in comparison to their old, cloudy plastic that they used).

Agreed! The difference of just reholdering a comic from the first generation holder to the current one is an amazing visual improvement, not to mention that after 20+ years of auctioning comics, Heritage has likely improved their lighting techniques. Just my 2c

S+P grossly did better. For a true comparison or net need to take out taxes (assuming a taxable account) and need to subtract out the commission paid to Heritage.  Both methods did well.

Yes, but the owner of the Adventure #32 had the added benefit of being able to hold it in his hands and swoon over it for 22 years.  Can't do that with an S&P investment.

Hard to put a price on swooning.   (thumbsu
