Manuel the tuna fisherman saving some "breast o'chicken"?  Yeah... that's gonna be tough to beat.  I looked at issue #1 and it seems they were on a boat called "Breast O'Chicken"?  There's gotta be a story here.

*EDIT* : Ah, nevermind.  I see.  From MCS description : Story and art by Frieda Bart Hind. Featuring tales of high adventure set on the open sea, these were mail-away promotional comic books made for and to promote Brast-O-Chicken canned foods, a product of the Westgate-Sun Harbor Co.

Looking at that book sent me on a weird deep dive last night involving the Breast-O-Chicken vs. Chicken of the Sea copyright battle(!) and into the growth of the tuna industry in San Diego and the Pacific in general

Our esteemed host retrieved some gems from an apocalypse vault deep beneath the city.

He was kind (and brave) enough to take a few Church copies out of the mylar.

Some of these are so early, that they were prior to when the books were coded.

The colors, ink reflectivity, and pages were astounding.  It's impossible to convey the experience of viewing them with either words or pictures.

It was great to hang with my fellow collectors for a day.  It reminded me of how much I miss the days when over a dozen of us would get together at my home during Comic-Con week.
