We got three big benefits from the sale of the vast majority of my collection.  The first was security - no more worry about a significant amount of value tied into something vulnerable to being damaged or stolen.  The second was the gain in liquidity in retirement and the simplifying of our finances.  And the third was the freeing up of space, essentially an entire room's worth, and heavy box after heavy box that won't need to be relocated when we do.

Whenever I want to re-read a silver age Marvel story, I go to the runs of Collectors Item Classics/Greatest Comics and Marvel Tales.

I think they were leftover from issue #3 where they tried putting Thing in a costume with the rest. First full costume with helmet, then costume no helmet, then just full pants and boots. Issue #4 they stuck with underwear and boots until finally just sticking with the current version. Same thing with lumpy Thing vs later hard rock Thing. Both Stan and Jack were trying things as series went along. I remember Lee commenting a number of times Thing in costume didn’t work over the years when brought up.

I thought 18 was tough.  Even tougher with better than OW pages.
