  1. I just came here to look at a book I can never afford to buy. sigh* Oh.. but I would say the front cover looks very nice but what is that black line that is just above the surfers right leg? The back cover probably brings it down to 7.5. Very nice sharp corners on this one. Needless to say, a clean and press will improve the grade.
  2. I guess you haven't purchased any modern Marvels since it is reprinted in every title for the last year..:)
  3. This may be a dumb question but why won't the comic shops hold the DC Books for 24 hours and continue to put them out on Wednesdays? Do Buyers absolutely need to get them on Tuesdays? I think all stores should agree to adopt this rule. It will simplify things for the buyers as well. Not that this will solve the biggest issue however which will be how Diamond will survive with less money coming in.
  4. I had a book "out for delivery" yesterday and later the tracking listed it as being returned to sender and then 12 minutes later tracked as delivered to mailbox. I asked the Post Office about it since it wasn't in my mailbox last night and they said it was marked as delivered like he didn't believe me. Jeebus! Hopefully it will pop up somewhere soon.
  5. Without the staple issue I would think it would grade at 6.5. The staple pull could bring it down a full grade at worst but it has very nice inside pages. I would hope for at least a 6.0. though might come back at 5.5
  6. Yeah a good press would bring it up a grade. I would say 7.0 as is.
  7. Front cover is a lot nicer than the back cover. I would guess 8.5 maybe 9.0 if you have an astrologist submit for you.
  8. Looks like both sides of the book has color fade. As Kav said, the color of the inside pages really shows what kind of environment it was left in.
  9. I think we can all agree that no one draws John Byrne better or as frequently as John Byrne.
  10. Are the black spots in the X-Men logo on the book, or are they from your scanner? If they are on the book I would list it at fine- or 5.5 range.
  11. The ink is just a smear from the printing process and shouldn't go against the grade. If that is a crease on the bottom right you should have the book pressed when submitting. If no crease is there than it should grade around 9.2.
  12. Sorry, but I don't think this would grade 9.0. The corners and edges aren't that sharp and there is dirt on the back cover along the spine. Also there is minor color flaking on the bottom right. I would grade it 8.0.
  13. I think it would grade closer to an 8.5. After all, It does have a couple other minor signs of wear, and the staple chip on the black portion of the book makes it stand out even more.
  14. I think it might grade 6.0 to 6.5 . Overstreet is a nice encyclopedia of information, but remember that Overstreet's grading guide is different from CGC grading.
  15. Hey, they don't call Marvel the House of Ideas for nothing!
  16. Twenty years into the future- "These Wal-Mart books are highly valuable due to the great TP shortage of 2020. Many people had to use these as an alternative and only a few remain."
  17. Your better off buying an 8.5 book without a staple pop and having it pressed instead.
  18. You can use a disinfecting spray on your packages and as long as you don't saturate the package your comic will still be protected.
  19. 56 and grew up with the Third Doctor!
  20. If he is already familiar with the book then I guess what he did is fine. If not, he is taking a risk going through the pages that fast. I would be worried about the brittleness of the pages.
