  1. I just went crazy today and bought out all of the recent WD back issues from all the LCS in my area (for cover price). I ended up with lots of complete runs, that I should clean up on. I found another copy of 53 (now my 4th). I'm trying to grab them all before most stores realize the prices this thing is now fetching, which are $50+!
  2. Yeah, I have three of those, that I'm going to get signed. I wanted to get a comic SS'd as well, but oh well.
  3. Thanks for the reply. It looks like I wouldn't make it. I guess I can find another book to get signed by him.
  4. Can someone tell me what issue Daryl will be making his first appearance in? Reedus will be at Wizard World Philly in June and I'd like to get that book CGC SS if it comes out before then.
  5. Thanks for the heads up. I saw 3 copies of 53 at my LCS last week for cover price and passed. I went back and picked them up after seeing your post.
  6. Hey guys, can someone tell me what the deal is with the WD #2 second printing? I'm seeing a few on eBay for some reason and I never knew one existed. Is it the same value as the first printing?
  7. Wow, that is insane! That looks to be VintageComics from these boards.
  8. That's wild! All we ever had in the hight of comic collecting in my hood was 2-3 stores without 100 mile radius...if not further. I would hate living in an area that has such a small selection. This area has a great selection of stores, so if I can't find something at one store I can find it at another (like I did with the WD Weeklys). That and we have alot of conventions as well.
  9. There used to be twice as many stores, but alot have closed in the last few months. I still have about 20 within 40 minutes of me. One of the many perks of living in NJ.
  10. I have literally 20 comic stores near me and every one of them have those issues. The guy who sold this is clearly shill bidding on his auctions.
  11. I don't quite understand this argument. I think it's safe to say that anyone spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on a comic is of the "comic book collector" variety, regardless of what the issue or title is, whether Modern Age or Silver or Golden. But collectors ARE spending thousands of dollars on certain issues and titles. I don't think you can so easily dismiss WD as another Magnus 0. If anything, it's becoming a cultural phenomenon more along the lines of TMNT. The question is staying power with those collectors. When TMNT caught fire in the mid-80s, did the collector community have these same arguments? If so, here we are 25+ years later, and people are still spending thousands on that first issue. It's become THE key of that era (whatever era that is...the 80s generation era?). Is Walking Dead becoming THE key of this current era? If not already, it certainly seems on the verge of it. So, I can definitely see WD Issue 1 becoming THE key issue for all serious collectors to obtain for years/decades to come. It's no longer just hype. There's something more cultural behind the frenzy, unlike those Valiant days of yesteryear that came and went so quickly. The show's casual viewers are likely reading the trades. Whereas the hardcore viewers might be jumping on the floppy bandwagon (thus the inexplicable price jumps for the Weekly reprints). But the collectors are the ones laying down the big money. Do I think these prices will hold up? Every instinct agrees with you actually. No way these prices remain this high. But I'm just not so sure this is your typical bubble. I don't see prices coming down to less than $500 for Issue 1. Sure, supply is certainly MUCH bigger than TMNT 1. But the demand could very well become a permanent staple of this era. The trend is your friend....until the curve at the end. Expect TWD to fall as Pre-Unity Valiants did. Not even close to the same thing. I went through both and I made a killing on Valiant stuff. There was no show or mass media behind it and it was a much smaller company then Image. Will WD drop off, sure at some point but everything does. I remember when Ultimate Spiderman 1 was the book especially the white issue. Now not so much but it still has some strong value. As for Valiants well they aren't to bad these days either... James G +1 There are little similarities between Walking Dead and the Valiant stuff. WD has a TV show, media hype, zombie craze, super low printings, and growing fanbase. Alot of the WD stuff will drop eventually when the hype dies down, but the low printings, and general demand will keep the key books relatively strong. I hope the people who are speculating about WD #1 dropping, didn't make the same mistake with TMNT #1.
  12. This might not work but have you tried Goo Gone to get rid of the sticky residue? I always use it on price stickers and it works great. You obviously need to be careful using it so it doesn't damage the book. The price would worry me too. I sold one for 75 last week and I made sure to clearly indicate that it was a reprint and already got a positive feedback.
  13. The exact same thing I'm noticing. Anything WD I list doesn't last a day, but I have both prints of Fatale up for a pretty reasonable price, and barely any views at all.
  14. As someone who is making money reselling the Weeklys, I'm their biggest fan in the world right now.
  15. Wow, thanks for the information. I just found 2 more copies of the Weekly today for cover price. After going to a bunch of comic stores, I noticed that lots of stores didn't order the weeklys, so I knew the print was alittle lower, but that seems really low to me.
  16. I Yeah, I make sure I write clearly that I'm selling the reprints in the description, so there are no problems. I literally sold all of the WD books I had listed today. It seems the buzz is higher than ever. I'm glad I bought 20 copies of the Image Firsts Reprint last week for cover price.
  17. I sold a lot of the Weekly and Image Firsts #1 for $72 a few days ago, and there was a misunderstanding about international shipping, so I had to relist it a few minutes ago. It didn't even last 30 mins at $78. That was a great $4 investment.
  18. I don't think it will sell for even close to $300. $100, maybe even $150 is definitely a possibility if you look at the completed eBay listings.
  19. Knightfall sets are easy to put together. None of the books are really hard to find, and if you find most of the parts in the 25 and 50 cents bins, you can probably get a 2-3 missing parts for $1-2 from other places and not feel too bad. Most of the time, sets can be put together for around $10. Knightsquest and Knights End are much tougher to put together, at least for me. I see them in the cheap bins all the time, but the problem is that there are alot of parts to them and its hard to get all the books for both runs. That, and you need a checklist for them, since the parts are not clearly marked like Knightfall. I think that's why a complete Knightfall/Knightsquest/Knights End set goes for so much. Most people figure its not worth the hassle to look for all 70+ books.
  20. Interesting, I pieced several set together years ago just in case using the dollar bins at various shops. I even picked up the Knightsquest books. Heck, I may get lucky and sell them off and buy some more art I actually love looking in 25 and 50 cent bins for Knightfalls. I still constantly find them there, and have put together 10-15 sets like that. I've sold half of those at about $40 each. Its pretty easy money if you have alot of small conventions and flea markets in your area, since everyone puts Knightfall in their cheap bins.
  21. I thought the Knightfall run did get a very small bump. I think they're averaging about $40 per set, which is up about $10 from the past year or so. Complete sets with Knightsquest and Knights End are going for $100+. I don't know if its always been that way though.
  22. Fatale #1 2nd printing seems to be going for the close to the same price as the 1st print.
  23. I picked up a WD Weekly #1 for cover price today. Its only worth about $50 though. That auction had massive shill bidding.
  24. I passed on a set of Weekly 1-10 from a dollar bin 2 months ago. I think this is total shill bidding, but the book is definitely approaching $50 realistically. What's high for a WD #1 9.6? I thought I put a high price tag on my blue label 9.6 @ $950, but it didn't even last a day. ::
