  1. Hulk 181 9+ for about 20 dollars in trade. Not to pay bills, but to get my fix of dollar bin books(ok quarter bin in bulk) .. and having no means to do so.
  2. They are releasing all of them in a collection! Next Month! https://www.amazon.com/Marvel-Classic-Collectible-Poster-Portfolio/dp/1419756222
  3. Although, they could meet in a revamped Justice League. Kingdom Come has the potential to rival Infinity Gauntlet.
  4. If it makes you feel better, I checked out several ECs from the Library of Congress. Many were flaking and close to disintegrating the spines. The guy who put them back treated them like rag dolls. This after I used gloves to gingerly free and replace each one of them. Clearly curators aren't the only ones handling valuable ephemera. I recall another time I was in a comic store, and one of the customers told the clerk, 'Dude, this isn't Payless, can you be careful how you bag those?" I spent hours collecting about ten pristine issues of Spider-Man 300 out of a box at Tower Books going out of business sale, and asked to bag them myself. The tattooed and nose pierced clerk who was thrashing and crinkling them around, said, 'nope, I have to check each one into the system.' You're not alone in your angst.
  5. He even changes the books on different appearances, clearly to show off the goods! Very cool. Likely OA on the right. "Prior to becoming Director of PHPR in August 2010, Dr. Khan served as Deputy Director of CDC’s National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). He has responded to and led numerous domestic and international public health emergencies, including hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, Ebola hemorrhagic fever, monkeypox, Rift Valley fever, avian influenza, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the Asian Tsunami, and the initial public health response to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. In May 2011, he made public the CDC's recommendations for preparing for a zombie apocalypse. "
  6. My first thought is this is akin to Jerry Lewis or Jim Carrey playing Warlock. How on earth he's going to capture Starlin's Warlock/Magus saga is beyond me. I get that Guardians are the bad news bears jokesters of Marvel, but Warlock???
  7. When I was younger, I picked up a 100 drek comics with my paper route bag and bike in the rain at the lcs a few miles away. I devoured all of them in a night or two. I could pull something like this off back then fairly easily I think. Comics take nowhere near the attention span of say a novel, like umberto eco, Neal Stephenson, or even Stephen King.
  8. Frankly, I can't understand why Avengers annual 7 never really took off. That's the ultimate Thanos Avengers battle.
  9. There's really a tremendous amount of these macguffins, if you will, floating around in the marvel universe. Prester John's power stone, Molecule Man's wand, Red Skull's power cube, etc.. etc.. Most of the occult ones will be found in the Dr. Strange universe, I'd bet.
  10. Growing up in the bronze age, I would argue that Iron Man was never really hot on his own. The layton era started to increase his popularity with demon in the bottle, but never really blew up like X-MEN (revised). Similar to the way, GOTG were lackluster prior to the MCU movie treatment. Or look at Black Panther. No one could have ever predicted his ascent to the top of the charts. Robert Downey Jr. brought a tremendous amount of renewed like to the character, IMO. That's the beauty of the marvel movie universe-- you can't really predict the winners based on their prior interest. If someone told you squirrel girl would be in the top ten blockbusters of all time, it is conceivable they could be made right someday.
  11. Idol of the nameless one and the Undying ones. Started the whole Defenders get together.
  12. The sale literally lasted almost from late November until January, last year. So keep watching around black friday.
  13. Estate Sales... I've seen people get into fist fights in line. Or dumpster diving next to the house. It can be like a carnival.
  14. Like I mentioned earlier. Hold off until the $1 to $2 deal comes around again. It's affordable at that point. Same cost as one high priced physical copy. I've tried Unlimited a few times, I wish they had more obscure stuff. But, I don't like the idea of having to resubscribe all the time.
  15. They range from somewhere between $9.99 to $16.99 each on amazon. But deals can be had all year around if you are patient. Some of the physical copies are in the stratosphere now. So it's a great deal.
  16. I like to compare to artist editions. Very cool to look at similar scaling of size.
  17. I manually moved all the titles in order. Quite tedious, but makes for an excellent library. Also, some covers are different than the other formats, making for OCD madness (similar to the recent spines on omnibuses).
  18. Last Christmas, Amazon had a (fantastic) deal where (almost) all titles were $1 to $2 each. I completed the library on my IPAD Pro.The downside is there was not enough room to store all of them -- they do fill up the device. So, it took a while to figure out how to delete them, and start over. I'm already a big fan of masterworks, so having the digital files on IPAD was a great complement. You can also blow up and step through panels to look at the art in greater detail.
  19. Outstanding series. A bit like a better version of hunger games in a children game themed prison yard (korean w/english subtitles)
  20. Most impressed by the Patsy Walker 1. What an outlier! I don't see that very often in the wild.
  21. I have to say wow. Looking through these threads, at what people find. I've wasted years and gas, finding next to nothing in craigslist and swap meets. The one find I did hit, I made a deal and right before I left to pick them up, the guy called and left a message, "oh someone offered more, so I sold it to them, bye." I saw those comics a week later in an LCS. Best deals I've found were through dealers that I gave business often.
  22. Yeah, so i still don't get how someone looks at that and sees an artillery fortress.
