I recently found a few Baker western books buried in some GA western boxes. I was shocked when I saw the prices I had on them. I quickly released them from their yellowed bags, put them in shiny mylars and of course “adjusted” their prices…
Obviously, nobody wanted them at their previous prices.
The Hawk?

Was watching this one, a bit baffled as well. Makes me grateful I won Diary Secrets 20/29 at the prices I did.

Well, there's one less. I did buy an Authentic Police Cases #10.
Slabbed, but not high-grade or anything, and I may have overpaid a bit, but what the heck, why not?
From my notes, it looks like MCS also had a Cinderella Love #29 (I almost pulled the trigger on this, but just couldn't. lol.), Hawk #12, Teenage Romances #1, Teenage Temptations #3, Wartime Romances #16 & #18, etc. I'm sure I saw others from other dealers there including high-end wall books, too, but I didn't write anything down.
Thanks for filling me in. APC #10 is a good one, I've seen it online but never pulled the trigger. Low grade doesn't bother me, especially when it comes to Baker. Pretty much the only way I can stockpile his covers. Always thought Hawk #12 was one of his cooler western ones. I have a 4.0 Hawk #9. Haven't seen too many graded copies for #12.

Pretty sure it's in a magazine sized slab. Which happens to quite a lot of the taller St. John books, but I'm not sure this specific issue needs it.
Gotcha, that is odd. I was unsure because the other graded copies I've seen of this book were all in normal sized slabs.

Ah, some stuff probably out of my price range... unless the TaR/DS books were modest.

Wish I could've went, a bit too far away. Any good Bakers floating around?

To be fair, this is the rare Ginormous Slab variant.
I was thinking the same thing!
Is this the scan giving that illusion or what?

Tough book. Always in demand.
Yeah, I was wondering why. Some lower graded ones sold cheap before but it usually goes for a hefty sum.

I’ve been monitoring his sales for months now…it’s a common theme with many of his sales. I won’t buy from him for this exact reason…similar books go for up to 30% less on other sites…marketing matters as does trust I guess - you will receive what you pay for…even better if you consign your books with him 😏
Yeah, definitely sketchy. It ends today and I contemplated going for it. Not sure now though.

Here's a recent ebay pickup. So cool to finally own one of these Baker 100-pagers, and quite the intense cover theme. This copy unfortunately has moisture stains, but the price was right and I love the colors with these rich jade greens.
The same seller (seemed like a non-comic seller who didn't know what they had) also had up a PR #17 which looked great from the front but had a chunk out of the back... I dithered and it was gone. Curious if someone here picked it up.
Sweet pickup, congrats! Almost reminds me of DS 20 with the heavier subject matter. Phenomenal cover.
