Is that the highest graded 25 that's ever gone to public auction??  I'll have to check out the high resolution zoom photos on their site.  Strong or weak 7.5?  hm

I believe so. For a second I thought it was @comicnoir's 7.5 copy.

    Description:

Matt Baker's iconic cover looks better than ever in this stunning book, complete with vibrant color, impeccable centering, and no wear visible in the central image area. This high-grade beauty is among the top four CGC-certified copies, only outranked by a sole CGC 8.0. Many fans consider this Baker's best cover, and it's easy to see why; amidst multiple scenes of celebrating and a gorgeous central profile, readers can see a variety of men and women all realized in Baker's iconic style.
Not only is this book beautiful, it is also incredibly rare. We've only encountered three copies previously, with the highest among them a CGC 4.5, which sold for $17,400 in January 2022. As well, GPAnalysis does not list any sales of this book above CGC 6.0 (across both Universal and Restored copies), with their sole record of a CGC 6.0 sale back in 2013.

I honestly don't think this forum is indicative of "the whole".  Branch out to the comic book sub-reddits and you'll see plenty of kids and middle-aged weirdos collecting comic books, looking to learn, talking about the latest storylines and what they enjoy most.   There are also Discords, IG, YouTube, etc where people talk comics all the time.  I'm also on a private Discord with some friends where we talk about everything including sports and comic book trends, latest hauls, etc.  It's a big world out there. :D

Very true. Forums like this are a niche thing, not many exist on the Internet anymore. The subreddit comicbookcollecting on Reddit is most likely a lot of younger people. Always flooded with Bronze/Modern books and people obsessing over Hulk 181, Secret Wars 8 or ASM 316. This place is a good alternative for folks who want that golden age fix, thankfully.

The earlier sale was when the 4.5 was the "highest-graded copy", as stated in HA's listing description.

When the same 4.5 sold again in 2022 for a lower price, the description said, "3 higher". The value fell because the 4.5 was no longer the coveted highest-graded copy.

Yes. Makes me laugh at people who bid with the sole intent to own the "highest graded", only for it to be dethroned.

I don't swim in these waters - did this one end about where it should have?

A 4.5 copy sold on Heritage for $2,390 and then resold for $1,920 several years later.

Oh man….  I just bought there a few weeks ago and I’m encroaching on 3 weeks and no shipment yet.   I cannot believe it takes that long.  I’ll probably never buy there again.

Yeah, that was the only time for me. I ended up getting that book in the middle of November. Terrible.
