  1. Well, now that he is back, all that is left is for Borcok to loan him his cell phone.
  2. Kudos to: SPIRIT_RADIO for taking a handful of slabs. slabthistoo for giving a home to a lonely crime comic synch and Crows for taking a few slabs to the Great White North ss5rmp for buying a book with a card cover and finally, to Skynwalker for giving my autographed Star Wars poster a worthy and loving home.
  3. Andy does it again! Nice pickup, I was considering bidding on this one They had it at a BIN of over 1k prior to this. Nice pickup. And since I never will own one - What rhymes with Lust? Is it rust, bust, dust, gust, cussed....
  4. A few new ones. Signed by Powell and Hughes: Posted in GA forum:
  5. Lower grade, but I always love when I get GA for my niche. Two of these I wasn't aware of until I saw them up for sale. (WorldWide comics came through with the Cosmo Cat and the other two were from eBay.)
  6. Closing in on my final books. I lost out on a nice copy last CLink auction, but found this one on Metropolis. They graded it at 2.5 and I agree. Book presents very nicely and the price was fair.
  7. No longer mine - I believe it is still in Terry's collection - but definitely one of my all-time favorite covers.
  8. I disagree and feel the probation thread is for exactly this. If I posted an "I'll take it" but then found out my friend would sell me the same book, so I didn't make the purchase I would rightfully be put on the list even though the seller didn't actually lose anything. It should protect buyers in the same way. The buyer not only agreed to the deal, but sent a substantial payment along with agreeing to a relatively short period for time payments. The seller - after getting the money - later decided for some reason the buyer is a flake and never even offered to sell him the book if he could pay promptly. Buyers deserved to be warned by something like the probation list so they can decide whether these are the kinds of people they would like to be buying from.
  9. Matt, you gave plenty of details for anyone who took an interest in this issue to understand what happened and how you feel about it. How you choose to resolve this matter is your decision. Some boardies will disagree with any decision you make, but it is not their decision to decide what you do to make the best of it. I would have put on probation list (if he never gets off, so be it). Hall of Shame didn't seem appropriate. Your idea that he has been outed on here and that board members do have long memories, so that is punishment enough also makes sense. Good luck finding a nice Tec. (Sympathies to Bat-Man for the abuse taken for being an unwitting participant in this fiasco. It seems clear only one person is to blame.)
  10. Make sure the seller has had ample time to respond to you (and that he has been active on the boards - you don't want to bash someone on vacation), but if they can't or won't give a satisfactory explanation, outing seems appropriate. Also, be sure that the book you think is the same really is. I would not want to get involved with time payments where the seller feels he can continue to try to get a better price until I make the final payment.
  11. i'll sum it up real quick: i sold frank an avengers 57 in cgc 8.5 that i had pressed. He had the same book, less than a month later in the sales forum,de-slabbed,with a much cleaner looking back, either dry cleaned or scan tone messed with, listed as a 9.2 "raw" with no mention of it being slabbed,or pressed prior. I almost bought the book, until i realized it was my 8.5 cracked out.I called him out on it,in private, and he made up an excuse that it sold privately an hour before, and it wasn't the same book. I took it public to the forum to see the B.S. going on..frank blew up,threatened people, made up more stories that none of it made sense. The last being he posted the wrong scan, and that he had cracked out my 8.5 and sold it at a con as a 9.0,but used the scan on accident in the listing here, after first saying there was no way it could be the same slabbed book.... Pretty much it. You forgot the hot chicks.
  12. Even with DC's penchant for over exposition on the SA covers, I have no idea what's going on! Just read it...a scientist hid secret plans in his library books, but he was killed and the books were returned to the library. The gorilla (who's really an alien) was trying to steal the plans, which as luck would have it were for a machine that would change gorillas to humans (or in his case alien gorillas to alien humans), which would allow him to fit into human society, spy on us, and eventually learn how to take over the world. This story was not DC's finest hour. In fact, the story abruptly ends two panels later when the gorilla (alien) simply drives his car off a cliff and dies. It's like the writer got halfway through this convoluted story and noticed that he had no idea where he was going with it and he decided to call it a day. I love this cover - and your purdy copy. I had been looking for a nice one for a while but have been too cheap to pull the trigger. I wanted to pair it up with this one, which I have on a shelf at school as part of my classroom display.
  13. Some girls are just built that way. I completely agree..but not her This before and after of Britney Spears gives an idea of what an airbrush can do.
  14. oh yes, but you never know what thread will come about down the road I can always hope that this was the calm before the storm.
  15. So is Krypto going to sue now for Franky besmirching his reputation by calling him a liar?
  16. Is this the same book? 103 - Yes 3 - No Either Franky has three accounts or about 2% of board members can't work a mouse while drunk.
  17. Awesome. The only Hitler/playing card cover I know of. After two months of waiting, it finally arrived.
  18. Now that is and awesome use of the SS. Great sig.
  19. Great pickup! Way to seek out a nice book. Congratulations.
