Nice to see the 2008 thread lives on the first page! I was recently looking at the HA auctions coming up. I'm sure these Bakers will fetch a premium as they deserve. I kind of weep a little to think of all the ones I let go at fractions of the prices. But, glad I have the ones I do. I have All Picture All True 1 8.5 but never was able to get the 2. Probably never will unless it's at a local garage sale.

There's some debate, but the consensus seems to be that the cover is Baker. The book is made up of remaindered copies of other St John romance books. My copy contained remaindered issues that had several Baker stories, but I don't seem to have jotted down which ones they were.
Okay here is my theory on the ALATS, Baker wanted to kind of incorporate the idea of "The Kiss" by Klimt. But, his version didn't include the hands of the bride more like the way of the artwork (hands are within scope of cloth). The hands were added later by a different artist as they are not Baker style. If you look closely, maybe you agree? My theory.

I bid on it … but I was too cheap
It would be interesting to put each -script line to the final product and see how it all ended up.

I saw this on eBay and this is the first time I have seen a -script. So neat! I would have paid $15 for it, if I had seen it.

Well after numerous attempts over my time here of unsuccessful WTB threads, I finally got a bite : Heart Throbs #46, one of Bakers best Quality covers (as unlike what is usually the case with some of the Quality covers, the baker girl maintains her instantly recognizable 'Baker Face'). On another note, it's almost a twist on the daydream cover of Teen-Age Romances #43. Except here the woman has manifested her fantasy into a sculpted dream suitor, much to the disappointment of the guy who you know really wants to be the object of her affections. Classic Romance stuff. Thank you Joanne , extremely happy to get your under copy
Yay!!!

Joanna- the scan you posted of Sweetheart Diary 38 seems to have vanished from your post... but were you thinking the 4th panel on this page from CL 14 is the source of the swipe you mentioned?
The composition does seem very close to SD 38...Edit: Seeing the SD 38 cover again, I'd say that's a match. Good catch!
Oh great! Thank you for finding this and adding it to the thread. I'm sure there are more connections we haven't made yet. I'm thinking they had to change up the cover as the original version wouldn't have passed Comic Code.

I bought the TLP 5 I posted raw from Harley for $275. Why do I let that man take advantage of me?
That was a deal

looked at these covers a dozen times plus, and never drew the connection these are the same players!
Fascinating. Serialized Romance. A first that I don't think the St. John run of covrers can lay claim to. (Don't mind me, I'm just trying to @Sqeggs )
I think maybe what happened is that Baker did a storyline for them and they just used two of the panels for covers.

I don't have a Sweetheart Diary 38. But, this was cover was a swipe from a Baker story. I just don't remember which one! I should have kept notes.

And I think whoever won this one made a smart move. Such a tough book and this copy presents very well (at least from the front!). http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FCOMICTRACK%2FAUCTIONS%2FBIDS.ASP%3Fx%3D0%26y%3D0%26pg%3D1&id=1236842
I've had two of these books both bought without the "Marilyn" factor. Wish I would have kept the other one awhile longer. I sold my lower grade one for a couple of hundred and thought that was a great deal at the time. Low grade copy I used to have.

I have a feeling that the winner probably sniped in a bid at the $4K to $5K range.
I wasn't following the auctions. Any other Baker books in the mix?

Yeah. I was hoping it would be about 2k less.
Wow, going up in price.

Sorry for the slightly blurry images, in looking at some historical auctions on HA, don't see this one come up often either.
