Interesting - For some reason it wouldn't have bothered me - personal preferences I think - still seems like a deep discount. Thanks for the insight!

Meanwhile, in yesterday's heritage auction, ASM 1 in 5.0 went for about 4K less than the two previous sales this year (11.7K vs 15K, 15.6K) - that seems like an anomaly? Or people sleeping on this auction? Or is it really slipping that badly?

Also if that surfer is an 8 I have a slabbed hulk 181 that just became a 9.4
-
The cgc guide states in the 6.0 write up that 7 inch creases are allowable in 6.0. Doesn’t mention it above that. I thought 6.5 was generous

I sell paper bags if anyone needs one?

9 points for me.
Silver Surfer #10 - 7.0
X-Men #87 - 9.2
Jungle Action #21 - 9.0
Web of Spidey #51 - 6.0
Y: The Last Man # 9.4

Betting it was the crease on the Web book. I almost missed it and then had no idea how to grade it
-
Welp…a full grade tougher on the flash and the secret wars, but within 1 of all the others. Surprised that the flash with the chunk out would score an 8. Also read and reread the cgc guide on staple rust and thought 7 was fair given the otherwise decent shape of the book. Still, will take the 7 after the last two brutal rounds.

Based on GPA, I would say the delta between their FMV estimate and CGC's is roughly 40% to 50%, which is still under what I paid for the books considering market value at the time, shipping costs, buyers premium, etc. However, I have attached a screenshot for you to make your own assessment. The books referenced by CGC in the screenshot were both purchased as holdered and believed to be a grade of 9.8
Were these newsstand or tatooz versions? Or rather were they supposed to be?

The FMV they offered me is in line with the grade on the label - ie 9.8

Seems like things are moving - I received an email from them offering me 'fair market value' for the book in question - the number is actually ~around what GPA has for the book (averaging the 7 sales that are recorded in 2024) - but doesn't account for shipping costs, buyers premium, customs fees (yey Canada).

We expect to start making payments for claims very soon. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this issue, this process has taken significantly longer than we ever would have imagined, but we are almost there. We recognize your frustration and sincerely apologize for the delays. We can assure you that we are doing everything we can to make everyone impacted by this incident whole, as quickly as possible.
Thanks Mike!

2 points otherwise, but 5 (yes, five) on that one
kill me
I was totally with you on that stain. My notes literally say Stains top bc. Otherwise 9.6? 8.5. If I got that as a 9.6 I’m not sure I would be happy….

Grades in but no emoji…Mike is torturing me here

Yes please count me in!

I also grew up in Toronto - with places like Phoenix comics, silver snail when it was on Queen, etc. The landscape sure has changed over the years...

The fonts on the back of the labels is all wrong too...
ASM #252 CGC 9.8 Record Sale - something fishy going on? - Holder Tampering Incident confirmed by CGC

I also have received what I think is a fair offer to replace the comic in the grade it was supposed to be in - plus a bit of a top up to cover things like customs, etc. Still waiting on the forms to sign off, but have found them to be very reasonable (aside from the delay) - once they came back with an offer, communication has been very solid.
