  1. My condolences to the family. Jeff and Charles were always so nice to me when I saw them at the shows.
  2. @transplant I wish I read the reviews but I purchased it blindly on the first day of release. @reddwarf666222 I did not initially care for War either. I recently revisited all the New52 DCUA movies. That is what I am calling them but I guess it is DCUA New52/Rebirth? I rather enjoy the Batman ones with Bad Blood being my favorite. Thrones of Atlantis was enjoyable but the end scenes seemed familiar and the movie overall didn't seem fresh. I had my issues with Judas Contract as well because of poor pacing and characterization. The major fail was that the Brother Blood just felt like a plot point. I didn't revisit that movie as I did the rewatching about a month after I watched that one. Maybe it is better upon review. Not sure. I feel like they have made a fairly tight knit animated universe so far. I would not count Killing Joke as part of the new universe. It is ok not my original DCAU but still watchable and enjoyable for the most part.
  3. I have been re-watching BTAS this summer. I am currently finishing up Season 3. The show is classic. DC animated shows and films used to provide family entertainment. I felt they keep that maintained that bar to entertain the kids but keep the story at higher level for adult enjoyment as well. The last few movies they put out, I will never purchase anything from them blindly again. @Martin Sinescu I am sorry that you paid to see it in the theatres. I was all set to go to see it in the movie theatres too. I would have demanded my money back after a few minutes. I am going to force myself to watch the full movie though.
  4. I know my opinion isn't popular around here. I am appalled at the smut DC is allowing to be released under their animated umbrella. They have lost me as a customer for life. I adore the animated films and comics. I rush out and buy everything. I will never do so again. I could not make it pass the first ten minutes and had to shut it off. I had my nieces with me and aside from the extremely apparent cheesecake, in your face sex shots, they cursed twice and Harley fights then is hopping into bed with NW. WTF. I am so happy I did waste money to see this in the movie theater. I will never see another Bruce Timm film again. He is dogsh*t to me. He has no business putting out this fanboy .
  5. I don't care for funny animals. I would not spend the money on those type of books. I used to collect romance book. I found that I enjoyed the BA ones the best though. These days, if I collect anything it is DC comics. Those GAs are out of my price range.
  6. @jools&jim Fantastic! I have the hardcover omni of the Fourth World. I treasure them dearly.
  7. I read my comics too even the GA ones I pick up on the rare occasion they are affordable. I feel like most of the collectors on the GA section have been collecting when GA were more attainable. Seeing what I cannot ever accomplish doesn't make me want to hang around the GA forum. I don't mind the question here but honestly, not sure where it is going. We did have a young under 18 board member here that collected GA books. I will not go into his tragic ending here. Honestly, it is financially attainable for the select few at this day and age.. That is how I feel.
  8. Did anyone go today? I tried but there is construction on Warren St and the surrounding streets making on the street parking next to impossible. After 25 minutes of circling I gave up. I passed the site a few times but never really saw the gallery either. By time I found a parking garage that was too far away, I was tired. If anyone does go, please post. I read that it was only blown up reproductions but I am curious if they had any original works on display.
  9. Thanks for posting this. The gallery doesn't show hours on Sunday though so if anyone is planning on going, I would email them.
  10. LOL. I am suffering the need of bifocals. Reading anything with glasses on is getting harder every day. Getting older sucks.
  11. Happy to hear that they caught the guy and are taking swift action. I would call the contractor and give him a piece of my mind. Then go to all the online listings and warn other home owners that he used sub-contractors without disclosing.
  12. I am such a dinosaur. I only had two LCS reward systems and they are ancient. One was a card punch system and the other was tracked manually in a book but the owner would remember your numbers. Both stores had the same numbers. Spend $100 get $10 to spend free in the store. Basically it's like giving 10% off. Now, my one LCS had a customer that banked his credits and had a large credit amount. So you should possibly think about an expiration date system as well. Edit: I do know one LCS by me had a TPB credit system. It was buy x amount and get one free. I don't recall but again, it probably was 10 trades.
  13. I listened to the podcast last night. I didn't think the executive sounded "horrified". I got the impression that this entire company is a sham set up to avoid legal prosecution. I find the entire story to sad, that police, FBI and the post office know that wrong doings are happening at this address and fail to rectify it. Big companies like Ebay fail to stand behind their own policies and will not admit when they are hacked. To me, this story highlights what is wrong with a lot of world today. No one in *authority* either will not take action or are helpless to do and in the end the little people that need the money are getting the shafted. Frankly, it pisses me off.
  14. I try not to use media mail. If the package is lost the post office will do nothing for you even with tracking. At 10 trades, a $1 extra for shipping isn't bad, IMO. I try to stock up to justify the shipping anyway.
  15. Sell them on the boards. Not enough sales threads with TPB in them which is what I mainly purchase these days.
  16. @Genesis Comics Sorry to hear about the delay. I would follow up at the end of the week with the Landlord to see if everything is on track. I am sure it will work out in the end. Good luck! Let us know when the Grand Opening will be.
  17. I just feel like comic shops don't know how to serve customers. Twice the books were sold out from underneath me. Are shops that nervous being stuck with $13 books now? I seriously wonder if has to do with me being a woman and not taken seriously. I think am done struggling with comic shops. They don't work for me. I have tried and tried.
  18. I love ordering from Graham crackers. They are the few online comic shops that actually have animated comics. I used to order from them often and never a problem
  19. Season 3 has started. This season, he travels to various LCS and interviews the shop owners. http://flatsquirrelproductions.podomatic.com/
  20. I am going to resurrect this thread. One of the guys from my old comic shop that closed started doing podcast. He is up to season 3 and interviewed the owners of Pack Rat. It was an interesting listen to and they did address why they don't collect credit cards or ask for deposits. https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/flatsquirrelproductions/episodes/2017-07-04T15_43_32-07_00
  21. I don't want this thread to be a complaint thread. I am curious how local comic shops serve you as a customer. I am getting back into reading comics, or I should say reading collected editions. I have noticed a while back that once I stopped my pull list, comic shops no longer really served my consumer needs. Maybe more correctly, I felt no longer valued as a customer. I think that still holds some truth based on my recent experiences. This year, two different shops next me can barely hand a simple book order request. I would love to have a place to go and actually find and purchase one book. Go home and sit down and read that one book. But my experience for years have been, it is not in stock but I can order it and call you. Yes, I just end up ordering online. I do bulk orders to save on shipping and then when I get the stack of books, become overwhelmed and they then sit on my shelf for sometimes years unread. I soon will become bored again with this hobby because it has become too hard to obtain merchandise locally. Ordering online has its own set of problems because I have had packages stolen from me which = out of pocket cost of $50 up to $100 at a clip. Not cool and that eats up any online discount that I received for an entire year of online ordering. I am going to bump my Comic podcasting thread since they are starting up season 3 with a traveling around the US interviewing comic shop owners. It has made me curious as to how every one else enjoys their local shops.
  22. It was many years ago though. I am sure that is what it could have been but there were no other noises but a chainsaw or some type of machinery. Most likely they were fixing the room up but again, he wasn't sweating or anything. The noise was quite loud that I would have suspected the woman to apologize for such and such. That didn't happen which was equally as unnerving for me.
