  1. Nope. As far as I know, there have only been two copies of the Dr. Mirage #1 VVSS certificate. From what I can tell, the actual book that accompanies the Dr. Mirage #1 VVSS certificate is meaningless. Interesting. I thought that more would have surfaced by now. Another cool item I found at a LCS was a DF Q&W #0 or something like that which was the only copy I had seen at the time. There had to be a bunch of them out there.
  2. How many copies of the Turok #1 VVSS with the Dr. Mirage #1 VVSS COA have turned up over the past 5 - 10 years? When I sold mine to another member on Greg's boards way back when it was the second one that I had heard of. Did a complete VVSS Dr. Mirage #1 ever turn up?
  3. Fricking hilarious. I pulled together a $1 Image box a week ago for a late October show and found a couple of each cover of #1 still kicking around. Looks like I will have to dig through it to find them again.......
  4. I sold a 7.0/7.5 copy at the Edmonton Expo a week and a bit ago for $900 CDN. There was lots of interest in the book.
  5. I have not put any of those out at shows yet, but I have been moving #509s fast at $10 apiece. I will be stickering #256s at $20 or $25 for the local October and November shows. What is that, like 48 cents US...? The glory days of having an above par dollar are gone. The trade off is getting a 30%+ exchange rate kicker when selling online. Yup. I can't wait for the 50% off sales on back issues at a few of the LCSs during boxing week. I will even hit the ones that only do 25% - 35% off - in the recent past it was not worth it but with the current exchange rate environment it will be.

What is that, like 48 cents US...? Lame. Not even worth the effort. RMA's joke? Or kimik's 256s? Are they going for higher than $25 apiece online? If yes, I would be happy to charge more for them.

  8. Did we expect anything less? On a more positive note, I have sold VF copies of #1 1st print the past couple of shows at $10 apiece (Midtown comics sent me 5 damaged ones with the rest of my order way back when).
  9. I am no longer a member of the club, for now, thanks to the Edmonton Expo this weekend.
  10. Nice. Looks like I need to adjust the price on my copy then. Sold it for $270 CDN at the Edmonton Expo today, which is just over $200 USD. Nice to avoid shipping and the auction fees.
  11. I was shut out at every store I went to. I called my file LCS on Monday but they did not order any. My guess is that I would have had no problem selling them for $50 - $75 (with the last copies at $100) at the three day Edmonton Expo this weekend as it would have a buzz to it. It should have legs into 2016 as well as it is a Harley appearance. The demand will lower than for the regular title as only fans that know what it is will chase it, but I can see it being a $20+ book. At the least it will be like every other recent Harley issue - price it at 2x to 3x cover and watch them sell.........
  12. Marvel is doing the same thing with Deadpool as well. That being said, until people stop buying the flood of books will continue. It is interesting to note, though, that a lot of the cosplay or non-regular reader crowd catch up on Harley at shows. I move a ton of back issues each show, as well as issues that are still on the racks at LCSs, to Harley (and to a lesser extent Deadpool) fans that do not buy books from LCSs.
  13. Or it could be the fact that CGC finally updated the census. If you look at the Batman #121 thread there was a lull in listing the 9.0 that sold on Pedigree a couple of weeks back. The book was up for auction but was not in the census yet........
  14. Nice. Looks like I need to adjust the price on my copy then.
  15. So, $50 for a slabbed 9.8? That does not seem that bad. Raw copies are still in the $4.99 - $14.99 range depending on the auction.
  16. Aargh. My comment above was cut short by accident. My last sentence was supposed to be: It will be interesting to see how much AoU and next year's BvS bring in for product placement. Those two flicks should set the bar that others aspire to reach. Here is an interesting quip from an article re: BvS Product Placement: http://guardianlv.com/2014/10/batman-vs-superman-dawn-of-justice/ But the box office will not determine whether this movie is successful or not. It is ancillary products that will ensure the movie’s success. There were major concerns about the cost overrun for Man of Steel. Product placement, however, almost recaptured the entire cost of the film. Time Warner will surely implement a similar strategy here.
  17. For comparison, here is the B&B #28 4.5 that sold for $5500 (Lonestar Comics on eBay - they get some high prices):
  18. Damn.. didn't a 4.5 just sell for that ? This book confuses me. -J. Yup. Its a 1-1.25k point book right now all things considered. We need it to hit $2K per point.........
  19. It was brought up repeatedly in the Man of Steel movie thread. Well, all of the Man of Steel movie threads. And this is why the comic book and blockbuster movie genre will continue to thrive. The advertising/product placement fees cover a good portion of the cost of production or marketing of the movie. It will be interesting to see what the fees are for AoU 2 and then for BvS. Both movies should generate significantly more than Man of Steel. It will be interesting to see how high t
  20. Heritage is the place to sell SA and BA DC keys/semi-keys/hot books. (thumbs u
  21. It is more of a case of that "5.5" actually needing to be labelled properly as a 4.0/4.5 with that big of a piece missing. The price was fine if you look at it that way. I disagree with the way CGC is so lenient with pieces missing. I have a Strange Adventures #205 up on eBay that I was grading as VG with no takers as a raw book at local shows due to the missing pieces/chips. It came back as a 6.0 in a nice slab. Add in the apparent edge tear in the middle of the right side, what appears to be a color breaking crease in the bottom right corner, and a longer crease or tear (or scuff?) at the bottom staple and I am surprised this came back so high. FWIW, Clink limits the prices on all books by not providing a back cover scan. It looks like there is a bit of a bend/crease in the tip of the top left corner of the back cover on this B&B #28 (slabbing issue?). If I am spending a few grand on a book I would like to be able to see both covers. That is not too much to ask, is it?
  22. There is a pretty healthy spread between 9.6 and 9.8 on this book - my 9.6 ended on eBay last night with no takers at $69.99.
  23. Conversely, people that think AoU was great are the same people that are calling 8.0 books 9.4 in the PGM forum.
  24. That is why now is the time to pick up the DC SA 1st apps/keys/minor keys that have not jumped yet. Marvel SA books have pretty much all had their run up due to the TV and movie appearances and now you have to look at BA and CA books to find the hidden gems. DC books have a lot of room to make up.
  25. Yes, they have. I was both disappointed and happy with my submissions from this summer as well: disappointed with the books I subbed to flip that did not receive gift grades BUT happy with the ones I wanted to keep as they are accurately graded.
