  1. Batman #357 is still running up. The last 9.8 hit $669.
  2. Batman #357 is gapping up again now as well. The last 9.8 closed at $669. I wonder what my Canadian newsstand 9.8 copy would go for now? It is still the one and only graded Canadian newsstand edition, and another 9.8 will be tough.........
  3. The 1st appearance of Magneto is definitely a book to get................as it features the 1st appearance of the X-Men as well. (thumbs u My point was that if you are chasing movie related 1st apps of villains or lesser characters the time to buy is well before the movie hype starts in earnest. The time to chase them is when a film is rumored/announced by the big two, not after it has been cast or is in production. Buy early and at low prices, flip at the peak, and even if you are stuck with a copy or two you will still be able to move them at a higher price than you accumulated them at. The real time to buy them is to already have them. True, but you can accumulate most movie or TV related key at decent prices until the casting is announced or in some cases when production has started. While there is an initial 1 week spike after the initial announcement, most books pull back fairly quickly after that.

  5. And all of the copies of New 52 WW #3 have quickly been snapped up on eBay......
  6. Wow. That is a brutal gift grade. The owner of this book will be disappointed IMHO. I think a boardie owned it (not me). Some staple stress. Corner bumps and spine ticks. What do you think it should have graded at? The spine creases, staple stress and cornerbumps should drop it to 8.0 if tightly graded. There are too many spine creases to be 8.5, and adding the staple pulls should drop it further. There also appear to be three small tears/creases - two along the bottom edge towards the spine and one about 1/2 way up on the right edge (just behind Mr. Freeze's melon). That should drop it to 7.0 territory if they are indeed tears or 7.5 max if they are just creases. I wonder what the back cover looks like? Granted, CGC gives keys a bump but the Pedigree copy is more than the norm. Is it a great looking copy of a hard to find in high grade book? Definitely. However, if I bought it I would be disappointed as it would not be a properly graded 9.0.

  8. Really? I'm seeing lower prices on most mid-lower grade books. What are you seeing heating up since the spring? The keys/1st apps/hot covers are up, most commons are flat or down. Just like most other years, I guess. The thing is the "key" pool is ever expanding... Yes, this would appear to be the case if you read the market reports in the latest OS guide. Keys for all of the various ages are selling for high prices in all grades, with the key pool expanding by leaps and bounds as more and more characters are being rumored in upcoming movies. Definitely a healthier sign and a nice change from all the talk on CGC highest graded copies, which was much more of the focus the previous few years. (thumbs u i'm curious why this is healthier? are the "collectors" who rushed out to buy Avengers #55 in any grade at any price in 2013 when Ultron was announced better off now that prices have come down by 2/3's? this will not be an isolated occurrence. these so-called " first appearance keys" will continue to implode when the movies either a)dispense w/ the characters b)suck c)fade into oblivion. Not all keys are created equally. The key is to buy the weaker ones low and sell them high. That being said, even if they are down 66% from the new high, that is still higher than they started out at in 2013.
  9. It has a chance, I guess, but I don't see it hitting GoTG numbers which would make it more difficult. That being said, it has still done well due to a lack of competition (FF ) and being a decent movie. I have not seen it yet and will wait to download it or buy the DVD if the kids want to - they had a choice last weekend and wanted to see Minions instead of Ant-Man.
  10. So what's heating up in Copper? I see that Batman 436 is doing very well in graded 9.8 ss, although off its highs from a few months ago. Fixed that... all sales results You need to show all completed auctions, not just the ones that sold, to paint the picture of how hot it is. If the prices are not all green then it is not red hot IMHO: All sales
  11. There were what, 20 different covers for it? At that rate it should have topped 200,000 as that would only be 10,000 per cover. I guess it goes to show how low Archie sales have been. I talked with one LCS owner that did not order big and said it flopped with his regulars for the simple fact that they did not like the new look. Some of his regular Archie collectors did not buy it as a result.
  12. If the rest of the book is perfect it will come back as a 9.0 with the tear. I had a Canadian newsstand variant copy of ST #37 that had a similar top edge tear, no other wear, and it came back as a 9.0. With the bottom staple issues, and a couple of other creases, it would likely grade out in the 8.0 - 8.5 range. That being said, his grading is not really any worse than most of the major dealers out there right now. The only way to hit the stated grade with most of them is to press and dry clean the books before slabbing.
  13. Star Wars has increased its monthly sales the past couple of months - I wonder if this is due to the variants or actual increased readership?
  14. I thought it might hit 9.2 with a gift grade, but I am happy with it as is. I bought it from a major dealer as a NM, but it did not look like it when I opened the bag. However, since the price was right I was not going to return it.
  15. That's under 7 copies per state in the USA and the rest of the world gets none. That's how my calculations justify your ton So, you are saying only 7 people in each state, and no collectors outside of the USA, would want a 9.8 copy? The demand far exceeds that.
  16. A ton compared to what? Looking at other hot copper/modern keys like ASM #300 or NM #98 that is a very low amount.
  17. Due to these recent returns from CGC, I hope the prices keep running up through the fall up to the new movie.......
  18. The census currently shows 1404 copies have been graded 9.8 325 9.6 411 9.4 229 Wow, there is "only" 325 9.8s? I figured it would have exploded by now... And still fewer 9.9s and 10.0s than Hulk #181, ASM #300, NM #98, etc. Looking at the census, there are only 45 fewer 9.8 SS NM #98s as there are BA #12s as a whole.
  19. Good luck with the submission of those raw books. (thumbs u
  20. Starting to. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sop=1&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_ipg=50&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=moon+knight+1+1980+nm Was there an announcement? So, the 1980s Moon Knight #1 is selling for as much as the Marvel Now Ellis #1 1st print?
  21. The newsstand copies are a bit tougher to find in 9.6+ due to shelf/rack damage. I can remember sorting through the 10-12 copies at the local grocery store in my hometown the day it came out and pulling the 3 best copies while my friends waited for the leftovers. All of the copies at the gas station in town that carried new comics were damaged.
  22. Luppachino's variants for Starfire are holding well also. I like her artwork on that title as well. It looks great.
  23. One day it's drek, the next it is a hot 1st appearance of a lesser character that is appearing in a TV show or a movie.
  24. It's about time that modern GLs get more lovin........
