  1. Sold one for $40 at the Leesburg show on Sunday. Young woman came in and was GIDDY - no one else had one. I sold my last copy #17 for $40 a couple of weeks ago as well. There is still demand for it at shows as it is harder to find.
  2. My last Copper/Modern group had a few gift grades in it, including this book. Some were spot on, but others were high.
  3. The print runs on the 2012 Valiant run are lower for a lot of titles than they were for some of the "low print" pre-unity books. In February the top selling non-#1 issue was The Valiant #3 at 9800 copies. The best of the longer running titles, X-O #33, was only just above 7000. Some of these books will be harder to find if the movies are produced and hit than the pre-unity books.........
  4. I think it is harder to find a key/1st app/classic cover book that has not gone up in value since the beginning of the year. If the 1st Squirrel Girl can hit $100, any book can........
  5. It's interesting they mention the last issues being rare. That is exactly what I was thinking as I was reading through this thread. I bet the last 10 or so issues of each run had pretty small print runs and very few people were probably collecting them at that point. Most probably ended up getting dinged up in quarter bins. I'm not saying those last issues will surpass the more significant key issues in value, but they are definitely scarcer. The final issues are definitely scarce, but I wouldn't advise reading them. ...if you value your sanity in any way. The only one I did not mind was Magnus. The rest were horrid, though. If I recall correctly, Bloodshot and Turok were the toughest ones to find.
  6. How many marvel 95 centers? I think I'm around 100 or so, but would have to check... There are plenty to go from there for 95 cent variants. Drop me a line with a want list for any titles you are chasing. I picked up a couple or so long boxes recently.
  7. You won't again this year. That's because they will all be posted online to get the exchange rate kicker instead.
  8. Good thing I did not have any takers on my 2012 Valiant relaunch variants at the fall shows last year.
  9. I preferred the Ninjak chromium cover (#1?) to the X-O #0 cover, but the story in X-O #0 is much better. It is a book that stands the test of time very well - great story, good art, cool character. (thumbs u
  10. Is Sonic Dan a member of these boards? I can remember dealing with him way back when on the old Valiant fan boards.
  11. That is hilarious! I might have to pick up the Ar vs. P series now.
  12. A couple of recent returns from Sarasota that unfortunately were not labelled correctly:
  13. You have at least one. Telling you you're wrong and that there are at least 10k copies or more out there. We have not had any National Dealer make any posts yet in this thread. Dale Roberts and Greg Reece are "national" dealers and I've averaged over 20 AF15 purchases and sales a year across the nation, even if I don't fit the "national" dealer mantra Yes I forgot Greg did answer, didn't see Dale's though. I did ask some of bigger National Dealers and their responses probably wouldn't be agreeable as you would think. But you can ask them as well. Who did you ask? My guess is the Rick acquires and sells more big books than a lot of them in a given year.......
  14. X-O did not really take off as a read until a bit later when Aric was more involved at Orb Industries. His role in Unity was fun, especially seeing him get chomped on by a T-Rex, and the storyline picked up after he got back. (thumbs u It did get out of control towards the end, though........ Solar #1-11 is a good read, as is the pre-unity Magnus run. The BWS Archer & Armstrong run was a fun read also. The A&A #8/EW #8 three Musketeers flip book is a classic.
  15. Pre-Unity Valiants were NOT bad comics. No way, no how. Writing, artwork, universe-building...all excellent. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. They were not my bag at all. I thought they were derivative & poorly written junk with mediocre, though classic style, art & just pretty boring in general. You'll be agreeing to disagree with lots of people who know the pre-Unity Valiant books. I'll grant you (and have always said so) that later 1992 through 1994 Valiant books are both common and derivative, but the pre-Unity books (Valiant published before August 1992) were very good. Starting at about 1995, you might as well call them Image books. That was Acclaim's goal. I'm not saying you don't know what you're talking about, but it's clear (over the past 20 years) that MOST people who don't like Valiant have never actually read the 50 books dated from 1991 through July 1992. I read them. I started with Harbinger #1 and read the first 4 or 5 issues of it (and a few others, though they all tend to bleed together in my head into a smog of "meh") and didn't really have any interest. It felt like they were trying to do something but nothing about it really was terribly good IMO. But hey, I've got no problem being in the minority opinion. I love virtually everything from the time Ellis took over Stormwatch that was published by Wildstorm until DC ****ed it all up. So I'm used to not being in the majority opinion on books. Even as a Valiant fan I did not care for Harbinger. I know this is the series that many point to as putting Valiant on the map, but I preferred the early Solar, Magnus, and especially X-O storylines much better.
  16. I've lost track, but I feel like if everyone had agreed that 15,000ish was a reasonable number, this discussion would have ended 10 or 15 pages ago. It's been my impression that some were arguing for much (much) less, and that 15,000ish was outside the reasonable bounds (I think Jay maxed out at 5,000). Gator said he thinks 30k is "too much", and I have no reason to argue. But if someone came on here and told us he had invented a machine that could detect AF15s, and that there were 39,267 copies still in existence, I wouldn't be surprised. Well, surprised that someone had invented a machine that could detect AF15s... If it can detect AF #15s in garages, basements or attics I would be even more impressed.......
  17. how did someone with zero feedback list something for 12 grand?! It is easy. There are plenty of scams like it all the time on eBay. Usually it is for a better book like AF #15 or Hulk #1.
  18. Turok #1 had something like 1.7 million printed (and was the 5th highest selling book the month it released). Bloodshot #1: about 800,000. There are plenty of other books from 1993–1994 with print runs in the hundreds of thousands, but some of the pre-Unity books are below 40,000. And the various premium books (gold issues, VVSS, and coupon books) are very limited) There were about 800 Valiant books produced 1991-1996. There were 80,000,000 copies printed. The average Valiant book has 100,000 copies. The earliest books were lower than average, and the final books were much lower than average (which is why they stopped making them). Valiant books from 1993 and 1994 are significantly higher than 100,000 copies... all the way up to 1.7million for Turok #1. The Valiant books on this first appearances list (in the first post) from 1991 and halfway down the 1992 list are lower than 100,000... most are closer to 50,000. It is funny seeing these print numbers laid out like that considering there are so few books that pass the 100,000 monthly threshold today.........
  19. Another book that may be heating up is Secret Wars #1. I sold a copy (Canadian Newsstand variant) that I had been lugging around for the past two years in my convention stock for $20 within a few minutes of putting it on the table at a small one day show two weeks ago. I could not give it away before now.........
  20. You have at least one. Telling you you're wrong and that there are at least 10k copies or more out there. And there have been at least two dealers who have disagreed with that estimate as well. (thumbs u -J. I am too lazy to read the rest of this mess. Looking at the last three pages, I see Rick and Greg as saying plentiful. Who are the dealers that are saying it is not?
  21. It was there yesterday when I posted it - which one of you snapped it up for a quick flip.
  22. Here is a 3.0 for a decent price: http://www.heronext.com/listings/view/11393081
  23. Spoken as someone who has one, I guess. Sorry. Be patient, though, and you will find one. Last year I jumped on a 3.5 for a high price as I did not think my low bid in an auction for a 4.5 would hold. It did, though, so there are bargains to be found.
  24. The Adams DHoKF covers are hard to find in HG. That is a purdy one (thumbs u
