  1. Very nice. I saw a page of OA from the interior of that book (or maybe 23) - awesome Kubert.
  2. wow (in both a good and bad way) OK Rick. That one you can restore.
  3. I think it more likely for Everett to be influenced by Wolverton rather than EC. He was doing more intense horror-influenced work previously (e.g. "Doom in the Desert" from Namora #2). Now that you mention it, a lot of his male faces did take on a very Wolverton-esque quality in the early 50s. Great eye!
  4. Very pretty! I'll have more "pretty" later Along with the War 23, 143ksk allowed me to buy back another Heath war cover in Navy Action # 4, the under-water submarine scene. Thanks Steve and I added another Heath companion to keep company to the Navy Action # 4, Navy Action # 2, another superb effort for Heath and the colors <3 It's very possible to have fun with this hobby without having to spend $$$$ as Jack would put it, and that's why I love it! Great books! Two of my top wants, I have a 4 that's beautiful, but has marvel chipping...
  5. Here ya go...If you find one in VF or better you know who to call.
  6. Yes, Battle 16 - and the bloody hands panel and the shot to the face are definitely the "finer points" of the story.
  7. Here's a nice story I just picked up. This was a lower-mid grade copy that looked pretty decent and I was on the fence about buying it. When I saw the story I figured it was worth it. I'm glad I did, because I popped one of the staples off the CF scanning this
  8. D'oh! I was confusing it with the 143. All you washtones look the same....
  9. another White Mountain? I think Marnin still has the WM in his museum website.
  10. Shouldn't they be "mener fish" and not "fisher men"?
  11. Holy Cow Jeffro!!! What a sweet copy.
  12. Love the WWT 80! That may be my favorite cover in the run.
  13. I know, I know. It was a joke. Have you read the 12 cent plague yet? He documents how Gaines was living on amphetamines in the days leading up to that testimony and was all strung out. By the time he was called, he was exhausted and flopped miserably. I'm not sure that would have made a difference in the outcome, but interesting nonetheless.
  14. Geez, this was 3 pages in. We gots to have some more washtones shown! I can't recall seeing either of these posted before, and I just picked these up.
  15. I broke down and overpaid for this copy at Heroes. I've owned other copies in the past, but never one that I felt was a "keeper". This one has nice sharp corners, edges, and gloss - and the paper is fantastic.
  16. It is the Ebay copy - a local guy was selling it and I was able to pick it up in person so I felt a little more secure being aggressive with my bidding. We were trying to arrange an opportunity for me to see it before it ended, but couldn't get the schedules to work. It is probably in the 8.0 range, I doubt any better. But the appeal in the mylar is at least 9.0. Perfect copy to look at!
  17. Wow. Is that the copy that sold on ebay recently?
  18. It doesn't come up often, and is one of the more desirable issues in the run. As far as a price, hard to say. If it really looks that nice, although technically only a VG you may end up paying a lot more. I paid $175 for a VG copy and thought that was a steal. A nice looking book may command near $400-500, but with the rusty staples I'd be hesitant to pay that much. I would think somewhere in the $250-350 is realistic.
  19. Finally got a nice copy of this one. I've always wanted to read the Everett story (Cartoonists' Calamity) - and it didn't disappoint! The "Stone Man" was nice too.
  20. Stop being such a wishful thinker Dan. I know you've secretly longed for a closer relationship all these years, but I just don't swing that way. Sorry bro. "Jilted lover absconds with Detective 27 - the story at 11:00"
