  1. Yeah, @mstrange are the staples tight? i.e. there's no room for the edge of the cover to slide in?
  2. Yeah, I usually think that if someone is asking about trimming then there's a 99.9% chance it's not trimmed. But in this case it sure doesn't seem right. The wear isn't consistent with the rest of the book and the edge is particularly clean.
  3. It's almost certainly NOT trimmed. There's a lot of telltale features pointing away from trimming.
  4. You should see the stuff some crazy dude says about More Fun 73!
  5. It's not coming through the cover, it's likely from when the covers were printed and placed in stacks while the ink was fresh.
  6. Ace Comics 11 from Feb '38 was the first Phantom in comics.
  7. I've got 14 boxes of CGC graded gold/atom age, mostly all high grade. CGC is waaaaay tougher on new books than they were in the old label days. Not even close. I would also venture to say that they are more consistent on mid-grade stuff than they were until 2013-14 or so (IIRC). Given the choice sight unseen I would pick a newly graded book 10 times out of 10 over an old label if I wanted the grade to be accurate.
  8. With such an alliterative name he can't stay underground. Oleg the oligarch.
  9. I've always wondered why they drew it that way.
  10. Roy sold it to a Saudi prince who traded it for crypto and stolen art to a Russian oligarch. Then it was traded to a Canadian for poutine and Tim Horton's donuts.
