  1. Hi, looking for a grade on this copy of x-men #39. Thanks!
  2. YESSSSSS - what an awesome cover. My two cents on conservation - attitudes are changing, evinced by, among other things, the creation of the specialized label. I think we're on the way to conservation being viewed VERY differently from restoration. And personally - in or out of the slab - if someone wants to shore up my book structurally or seal tears so they stop growing, all I would say is THANKS. So happy for you, Preach!
  3. Literally just came in about an hour ago. yellow to yellow
  4. Not new, but just took it out again today to take pics for a friend. I had no idea this book was signed when I bought it 20 years ago, and what an awesome signature to have. Marie Severin is so awesome.
  5. That sucks, but it seems like CGC is aware and prepared to make it right. And I guess it wouldn’t be surprising that you got so many if it was a bad run and they’re just taking wells off in order. Sorry that happened.
  6. Yes, I would add to this that, in the end, its supply and demand. As an example, I have a REALLY nice FF #31 soon to be going out for grading. If I list it, I would probably list it at a premium - not only possibly based on lack of recent comps - but also because sometimes you have something that just doesn’t come up often even if it’s not a grail, so you can see if someone wants it badly enough. These prices, in the end, are only based on how badly anyone wants a particular book. Another initially confounding example might be ff 12, where I might pay a premium for a 7.0/5, as long as it was less than an 8.0. Reason being that even though it’s far from the highest grade, all I ever see is 4-6 or 8-8.5, and 7.0/5 is my preferred grade for my PC
  7. Oh maaan this one took me back to being like 6 years old. Bob Nelson! I had a link in here but then I watched it and I didn’t even remember how off-colour it was! The things we were exposed to as kids (actually pale in comparison to what our kids are exposed to). Thanks for taking me back!
  8. This is my favorite thread in a while because we’re each picturing VERY specific ppl. as DOOM says: Not to call the whole crowd out. It’s just a few chumps. And you know who you are, like a shout out.
  9. Good money after bad, I guess. I was presented with this as a reason to go with clink over heritage on a book I’m auctioning, and I found it a pretty poor analog. This person bought it through a private sale and then tried to flip it at auction while the market was in freefall. I’m imagining the $2MM came from GameStop stock or Dogecoin, easy come, easy go
  10. Hi all, Looking for a grade on this copy of X-Men #58. It’s a stumper for me because of the printing crease across the masthead and the distro or date stamp ink on the back. Looking forward to the expert opinions here, thanks!
  11. It don’t get better than that!! Congrats! What an awesome copy of a great cover
  12. My favorite juggy cover by far! Thanks for sharing! I say 4.5 as well. Great color!!
  13. Either it’s real or both ours are fake! Always happy to have an excuse to take this out of its bag!
  14. Hi, I don’t know if it’s of interest but a while back someone I’ve done multiple great deals with) not on the boards) offered me a 4.0 of the 1939 NN 1st appearance (the Montgomery ward). If it is, feel free to PM me and I’d be happy to try to connect you two. It was so out of my wheelhouse but super cool!
  15. Well as of today CGC will do it too!
  16. It’s funny I never would have linked them but that foreground figure on the GW50 looks a LOT like a Kurtzman figure from the silhouette
  17. Yup and then he’ll throw in someone completely not mannered or cariacatured like the figure bottom right on the Wyatt Earp. His brushwork, his blacks, he’s such a master
  18. Jack Davis is my absolute favorite comic artist. Thanks so much for showing these!
  19. RIP Paul Auster. Loved your novels, loved many of the movies adapted from them (eg The Music of Chance), and especially love the comics adaptation of City of Glass. If you ever have a question about why David Mazzuchelli is an absolute master, read City of Glass and realize you could probably orient yourself and navigate Grand Central Terminal and the surrounding area using solely his interiors and exteriors. Kind of like Peckinpah or Raimi, you never lose sense of where you are and what it is happening, regardless of how chaotic things get. when I was looking for a suitable image for this post, I found this stellar essay that puts it much more officially than I can Essay
  20. I didn't think I would see another GREAT SOCIETY other than my own. 1st appearance of Super LBJ, someone should grab it!
