  1. Yeah I feel like this is why CGC should do a press release to clarify what was happening - it may not be as widespread an issue if the perpetrators were pulling ebay items and not submissions
  2. Is there an official CGC press release regarding this case @CGC Mike? Does CGC know how many books were affected?
  3. That looks amazing! Congrats! i wouldn’t send it back to CGC, although label changes seem like they should be the least risky.. (key word being should…)
  4. I’ve sent books to artists to be signed with the CGC provided paperwork, they sign & send it to Cgc & it comes back with the yellow label 👍
  5. I like how this one came out, but again: brand new book, 9.6, no graders notes
  6. This just happened to me as well, except I was on the receiving end - I submitted a 7.5 and received a 7.0 - figured it was just typical CGC handling that knocked it down until the facilitator reached out and said that someone else had my book, and CGC had tracked down the other submitters book and somehow I had it 🙄 it’s not a good look, but I will say that at least CGC was able to figure out that I had the other persons book… good luck!
  7. @MattM CS follow up question here - would it be possible to have prescreens both before and after pressing? Theoretically, pressing a book should resolve any minor issues with the goal of increasing the grade - but I've recently submitted 4 or 5 brand new books with no visible flaws to be pressed & graded, and they've been returned with lower grades - I've received 9.6s & 9.4s, and even an 8.5 - with no graders notes and still nothing obviously wrong with them. My suspicion is that the pressing is actually causing damage, dropping the grade. I understand that this is one of the agreed-to risks involved when submitting books, and there's not much recourse for my submitted books, but what would be really helpful is the ability to elect (or have done automatically) to have prescreens both before and after the pressing - if it the book hits the grade, great, don't press it, if it doesn't; press it, and re-screen. If it still doesn't make the grade, that's when it would actually fail the screening, and would not be submitted into the grading queue. This would be a huge win for all parties: - Faster turn around (no pressing time if it makes the cut) for the submitter with a higher likelihood of achieving the target grade - Less stress / faster turn around in the CCS pipeline - Higher number of books going straight to grading Internally it might also help CGC determine if/how books are being damaged by the pressing stage (if a book is submitted that doesn't quite make a 9.8 prescreen grade, and is graded a 9.2 after pressing, presumably something wasn't done properly)
  8. Zero idea why the joker book got a 9.4, but thought these looked great together. Was thinking to go white, but glad I went with the batmany blue and jokery purple:
  9. Darth Vader 16 $1 Harley Quinn 1 $1 Star Wars 4 $2
  10. Seems like an odd candidate, but maybe swapped?
  11. I know it's early - but some of the celebrity sigs are already selling out for SpaceCon in October..! https://www.spaceconsa.com Any facilitators planning on attending?
  12. CGC does not recognize any COA, or any signature not witnessed by the CGC. My understanding is that if you send in a signed book with a COA, you'll get a green label and no COA returned.
  13. Oh interesting @onlyweaknesskryptonite - CGC had told me directly that they were the only ones to be able to press a cracked SS book (since they were doing the cracking) - but I hadn't considered a certified facilitator - so there are certified-facilitator-pressers as well...?
  14. 10000000% @CGC Mike has been a huge help to me on multiple occasions - I'll nag about the issues, but will 100% sing the praises as well.
  15. That is * awful - sorry to hear about it but good on you for documenting every step of failure. I've found that CGC's customer service is above average, but the QC is rock bottom terrible - I've sent over 20 books back in the last few months for blatantly obvious mechanical errors - like, taking a passing glance at the book should have set off a trigger to stop the process - but nah, let's ship it out anyway. I mean sure, people are human and mistakes happen, but I don't see any action being taken to address the mistakes. I'm actually in the process of sending an SS book back to CGC because they sent me the wrong SS book - another submitter noticed that the book they received wasn't theirs, and was honest enough to reach to CGC and they determined that they had sent the other submitters book to me. The kicker is that I sent in a 7.5 book with minimal grader notes, got a 7.0 back with additional notes, and the QC is so terrible that I just figured that CGC just mishandled by book so badly that the grade got knocked down - didn't even cross my mind to check if it wasn't actually the right book. I'd be livid about the signature though - that should 100% be on CGC to track down the creator and have them sign it, special in house signing, convention, whatever. They should also be fully refunding your money and giving you a credit for another signing rather than you fighting about $5 with them.
  16. thx @Stefan_W - gtk that there is a way to address the creasing issue - I probably have some other non-SS books that have the same issue that should I need to, I could send to a presser to try to fix - thx for that pro tip (just wish that CGC could also recognize that and try to fix it before slabbing it...)
  17. Thx @Stefan_W - this was an SS book, so the only people 'authorized' to pop it out is CGC - 9.6 for me!
  18. This is good I guess. I'd much prefer a press release on how CGC is revamping and improving Quality Control. It's abysmal.
  19. I'll 2nd these statements. A while back I had 3 books in a batch I had to send back for slab issue MEs 3 times. After they got back the 3rd time and still had issues, I didn't bother sending them back for fear of damage to the books themselves. That said, I've had a good run recently of only having label issues and not damaged slab issues, so I guess that's an improvement..?
  20. Thanks for that insight @Tom789 - there aren't any color breaking creases, so I guess it's fiber breaking? could the fiber breaking be caused by the press? (The book was brand new, unopened when I sent it in)
