  1. @CGC Mike - would it be possible for CGC to add an indication / flag to these records, so when you are a prospective buyer and look up the cert, there's an indication that the book may not be correct? Something like: Otherwise the buyer is going to need to know to track down the list of tampered certs, which seems unlikely...
  2. This one came back with just the WD sig on the label, so it went back for an ME - thx again to AlphaOmega for facilitating!
  3. I didn't take any pics ( ) but I submitted this JTC signed AFV for a Warwick Davis sig, it came back with the label w/o the copy about the JTC sig, just Warwick Davis. I thought it might have been my fault as I only selected WD on the submission, but confirmed later with CGC that you only need to add the new signature to the submission and that the existing one would be preserved. Honestly, I'll happily take the the typo on the label as the ME rather than the damage to the slab (or to the book itself)
  4. Just got the one @celluloidbuff - he was signing at the Cincinnati Comic Expo. I highly recommend keeping an eye on https://comiconomicon.com/universe/4/Star_Wars for upcoming appearances - he pops up occasionally. Quite a few people (are you a 'celebrity' if you stood in a an alien costume for 10m 40 years ago?) show up at lower profile shows that it's hard to find a facilitator for. & thx for the note on the Emperor book - I'm more annoyed that the crease happened while the book was at CGC than the 9.4 - I have pics of the original book and it looks flawless, but there's no recourse now...
  5. Totally works! I think the sigs would have been awkward pretty much anywhere on the front (maybe one on each arm horizontally if you really wanted the sigs on the front?)
  6. thx @scburdet (but I think you're being generous )
  7. How does one remove restoration? I have an ASM 194 that I submitted for a sig not knowing it was restored - not sure the extent of the restoration (C-1) but would love to know how to have the restoration removed…
  8. I had 1 of 4 books in a submission returned with the same issue - the white opaque seal went around the entire book - it looked really weird so I sent it back as a mechanical error 🤷‍♂️
  9. I just received this & it's a bit rougher than I anticipated - it presents well but I was hoping for a 9.6/9.8 with a C&P however I think there's too much wear on some of the corners to get it that high. There are some decent spine stress on the back that I imagine would press out. Thoughts?
  10. Nothing out of the ordinary: lots of scuffing on the backs of the slabs, small but visible scratches on the front of a couple. I've been having a pretty good run of returns not being MEs recently - like the last 10 books I received only 1 or 2 went back, but this order seems to be back to the norm. One of the books looks like there's some kind of droplets maybe inside the encapsulation, which might be tricky to fix (and it's on a pretty dark cover so they're pretty obvious). I think fundamentally I just don't get it: The slabs are well packed and there's usually at least 1 slab that is in perfect shape, which would imply that the damage isn't being done during the shipment, but once the box is open, it takes me all of 30 seconds to see the scratches or scuffs on the slabs, which makes me think CGC is doing zero due diligence to make sure the slabs aren't damaged before they're shipped. I also think it may be that they do see the damaged slabs, but the book is so far along in the process it's easier for them to ship them out and hope the submitter doesn't notice rather than do the right thing and send them back into the queue for better quality slabs. Additionally one of the books - brand new, no visible defects - came back as a 9.4, and as far as I can tell there are still no visible defects, so I have no idea why this would grade down that far. And of course... no graders notes.
  11. Just got a shipment of 5 SS books back... 4 are being returned for Mechanical Errors. : /
  12. Not a fancy movie actor but I think still within the thread rules... one of my favorite SW covers...
  13. bummer on the grade drop : / If it's any consolation one of my SS submissions was marked as 'Restored' which I had no idea about... : / @ShaggyB did you get these pressed when you submitted them? I know CGC has you sign a waiver that the grade 'is not guaranteed' but I do feel like what should be guaranteed is proper handling of the books (and possibly mitigating any damage made by CGC with an additional round of pressing before being graded...)
  14. Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress - thought she was great in Birds of Prey, had just picked this up on the boards, and she was signing at NYCC, so it seemed destined... thx to @AlphaOmega for facilitating!
  15. @ganni I'm sure there are many more reflection covers but this was always one of my favs:
  16. My ASM 194 has been in G/QC since 12/5, and just got the 'SS C-1' category The purple/yellow label combo might actually be kinda cool - wondering if it'll still have the custom label I gave it. I guess that's my lesson for 'getting a steal on ebay'
  17. Unfortunately I just saw that my ASM 194 signed by Marv Wolfman now has the 'C-1' category, which means the decent-looking copy I bought off of ebay and sent in apparently was restored, which is disappointing. I added the Black Cat custom label to the book: will the custom label still be applied to the yellow/purple label it's presumably getting?
  18. @NoMan I think ebay may be having issues with the Account pages. My account was recently converted over to the new Messages format (they look like chat messages instead of an email inbox) and since then not a single one of my Offers has been visible on the My Bids & Offers page. The item page has a big blue banner saying that I put an offer in on the item, but nothing on the account page. I'm also not convinced that the offers are actually making it through to the sellers, as a bunch of my recent offers have simply expired rather than be countered or declined.
  19. Ugh that is the worst. I recently submitted 2 minty fresh SS books that also came back 9.6s, zero grader notes, and looking at them in-hand, nothing blatantly obvious that would have kept them from 9.8s.
  20. Side note @NickiO CS - the submission with the book that wasn't signed is creating an entirely separate submission record in the CGC system - can I presume that these 2 sumbissions will ship in a single box? (also weird that it's 'Scheduled for Grading' but also 'DO NOT ENCAPSULATE') This was a single order with 3 books, but now looks like multiple orders - seems like having a 3rd option to just have the facilitator return the unsigned book will also lead to less cruft in the CGC system.
  21. Thx for the update @ShaggyB - maybe mine are 'Received at CCS (really this time!)' vs 'Received at CCS (but not actually yet)'
  22. Has the David Mack signing happened yet? My 2 books have been 'Received at CCS' since 9/28 : /
