  1. Sorry that it's taken me a while to find something to contribute. Been away at a conference in the backwoods of Tennessee. It was designed to get us away from all this computer stuff. Anyway, while I haven't had the pleasure of meeting or dealing with Brittany, if you guys vouch for her, well, that's good enough for me. How about a Golden Age book? Shipping to the US is on me. Sorry, but I'm going to limit this to US buyers. Asking for a donation of $100 to the gofundme page. SOLD to woregul BONUS OFFER: I'll match the selling price with a donation, too. Wings Comics #3 CGC 3.5 ow. The book has reasonably bright colors for a Fiction House. I don't have grading notes, but looks like a spine split at the top and missing the top staple. Otherwise, the scans tell the story.
  2. Wow, that’s quite a difference. Congrats! The end is near.
  3. Unfortunately, I don't have any 9.8s to share, but I do have a couple of 9.6s.
  4. Pretty book. If I’m not mistaken, none of the first 24 issues of Captain Aero have more than 10 copies on the census. However, the last two sci-fi issues do top the 10 copy barrier.
  5. CGC has it in the GA Hitler cover registry list. Personally, I don’t consider it a Hitler cover.
  6. Every time I’ve had an issue they have dealt with it promptly and professionally. Just give customer service a call. They are slower to respond to emails.
  7. See, I used to think I had a pretty nice copy of this comic book, but after seeing Richard’s, I should use mine as a placemat.
  8. Yesterday morning about 7 AM. I don’t have an invoice number yet. The submission hasn’t made it into your system yet.
  9. My membership renewed in January. Did my first submission of the year yesterday and the credit didn’t show up. So it doesn’t appear to be a matter of submitting too soon after signing up. I paid by check (the full amount). So a credit card adjustment won’t work for me. I emailed CGC about the issue, but haven’t heard back from them yet.
  10. Ain’t that the truth. Dang thing sits at under a $100 for weeks and then I get caught up in auction fever and it jumps to a grand.
  11. It was. And your one more bid got me. Congratulations!
  12. Yeah, somebody wanted it a little more than me. Tough book, but I enjoyed the battle.
  13. Since I focus on WWII covers, I picked up a Top Notch #2 for the swastika cover. Then came #3 and #4. At that point, I decided to get the mini run from #1 to #7 which all feature the Wizard. Added a #27 because it’s a war cover. Sometime, I’ll get together a group shot. I agree that the mustache is probably a nod to (what was at the time) current fashion sense and silver screen stars.
  14. I realized that I didn’t have a Bulletman war cover and this one from a ComicLink auction a few months ago fills that hole.
  15. I’m going to throw out a question to the group. While multiple publishers and titles didn’t shy away from depicting Hitler, Tojo, Mussolini, or Hirohito on their covers, some did so much more frequently than others. Timely and Nedor weren’t reluctant to feature the Axis leaders, nor were Fox, Columbia, Lev Gleason, DC, and many others. But one publisher who produced a tremendous number of war related titles and covers never, to my knowledge, featured any of the three on their covers. Fiction House, with their war oriented titles of Fight, Rangers, and Wings, would have seemed to be a natural to put one of the three Axis leaders on a cover. But other than a message to Adolf written on a bomb on the cover of Wings #29, I’m not aware of any of their other cover images that references the three. Do you think this was because FH took a more realistic approach to their covers and they perhaps didn’t feel the typical soldier or airman would be taking on the Axis leaders? Or do you think that the fact that they didn’t feature superheroes (other than the three issues of Fight with Super American) was the determining factor and only superheroes could take down Hitler? If regular GIs were busting up a Nazi stronghold, why not have a picture of Hitler on the wall like Arrow #3, More Fun #75, or Shield-Wizard #8? Just something that has puzzled me. I’ve also wondered why, considering the number of titles that were coming out of DC, there are only 7 Hitler covers from that publishing house. In fact, in general, DC didn’t seem to produce the volume of war covers during WWII that their rivals produced. Thoughts?
  16. Wasn’t there a huge find of Major Inapak, the Space Ace? I’ve picked up some really nice copies for $1 at garage sales and given them away. 1951, so might not qualify for the GA.
  17. What a disappointment, @Timely. Only one 9.8 in the group. You’re slipping, my friend. A 9.4 Champ #24 and Power #2 are just unreal. A 9.0 Taffy #2 doesn’t exactly grow on trees. Truly, just mind blowing.
  18. And True Comics #1 has Churchill on the cover.
  19. Well, that’s being awfully kind. The quality of the books being posted just blows my mind. While I think the image of Captain America #2 is more compelling, I would put Cap #1 in the top spot. With many of the other books, they wouldn’t be a blip on anyone’s radar without Hitler on the cover. Not true for Cap #1. It would be a mega key regardless. My second spot would be held by Real Life #3. I just think this is such an incredible image and when you toss in the “Emperor of Hate,” it makes for an unbeatable combination. Hats off to @adamstrange for his beautiful Church copy. It starts to get a little tougher after this. No doubt that you could throw Great Comics #3, Headline #8, Daredevil #1, Marvel Mystery #46, and several others in here and all would be worthy contenders for the third spot. I’ll just post a few more of my favs that haven’t been posted yet. They may or may not make your top ten, but they are fun books to chase.
  20. Congratulations! That’s an incredible achievement.
