  1. Congratulations! That’s an incredible achievement.
  2. Extending my condolences on your loss. I hope that the coming days bring you a small measure of peace.
  3. I think I’ve had two raw and this one is my keeper. Definitely not a ton of them floating around.
  4. Nice. Only 5 copies on the census, but I never got the impression that it was that tough.
  5. Strange Adventures was one of my favorite titles of my youth. Loved the sci-fi aspect and the Atomic Knights. If I ever branch out from GA, that would be a possible destination for me. Well done, West.
  6. Great stories so far. I’m sure many people go out of their way to do special things at this time of the year and all year long. I also don’t want to participate in your contest (although it is very generous of you) and I don’t want to sound like I’m blowing my own horn, but today was a great Christmas experience for me. Just back from a very rewarding volunteer experience...spent five hours helping out at the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree warehouse. The UT Alumni Association put out a call asking for help and Vol Nation showed why we are the Tennessee Volunteers as dozens of Volunteers showed up decked in orange. It was both a heartwarming and heartbreaking experience at the same time. Heartwarming to see the dozens of Vols that came out, pitched in, and made a difference. Heartwarming to see literally thousands of toys, clothes, shoes, diapers, etc. donated by the good people of middle Tennessee to make sure that every kid possible (and seniors, too) got at least something for Christmas. Heartbreaking to see that there were literally thousands and thousands of bags, each representing a family in need, covering the floor of a giant warehouse. And heartbreaking to see that SO many of the kids weren’t asking for toys, but for coats, shoes, socks, underwear, blankets, and sheets. While we live in the greatest and wealthiest nation on the planet, an experience like this reminds me that there is much more that we could and should do. No child in America should be asking Santa for a blanket for Christmas.
  7. For me, 2018 will probably be a year of transition for my collection. There will be some selling and some cautious buying. I’m not really sure what I’m going to do.
  8. Heritage sold a Fighting Yank #8 8.0 for $5975 earlier this year.
  9. I think these three might be my favorites for 2017, but there were certainly a few other contenders. First, a Timely that I was happy to upgrade. Next, I love the color palette and detail on this one. Reminds me of a Japanese woodblock print. My third choice is this Speed. It represents a historic time in WWII when the USA and the Soviet Union were closing in on the German capital. I saw this in an old CBM years ago and am excited to add it to my collection.
  10. That is a pretty one. The Bat signal I get, but with Superman’s super hearing, couldn’t you just say, “Hey, Superman, get over here.”?
  11. Buns of steel. And is it really appropriate for grown men to be hanging out at the playground with young girls? Robin, sure, but Superman and Batman?
  12. Also at the top of the cover, it says “Fighting Jets Over Korea!”
  13. Thanks for posting, Rick. Looking forward to seeing the rest. I went a different route. Decided to go for the early WF cardboard covers, adding NYWF ‘39 and ‘40 as they seemed a natural fit. Was able to pick up a decent chunk of them in one of the Sotheby’s auctions. But the run you’re posting is challenging and I know you appreciate a challenge.
  14. Hitler was padding his resume by adding “cattle rustler” to the list.
  15. I never mind when people share their books in a thread. I love seeing that others share my interests. That’s why I’m on these boards. I do appreciate when people let a poster get everything up before jumping in halfway through with a book of their own. Just seems to be common courtesy. Thanks for displaying your run!
  16. He would be near the top of my wish list. Winning in Starkville is almost impossible and he does it consistently.
  17. No doubt. Not a matter of if, but when.
  18. Would you have ever guessed that McElwain would be fired at Florida before Butch Jones at Tennessee?
  19. Thank you for sharing your run. I’ve got the other issues (except #12), but didn’t post them because they aren’t Hydroman covers. Like you, I more or less stopped at the change with #16.
