  1. I have several slabbed pencil sketches that are 10-12 years old and they look just like they did when I received them. The only artist I have ever worked with who used a fixative on pencils was Allen Bellman - and he did it as a matter of course. I don’t think I have any of those left, but doing a search for Bellman CGC should give you an ides of what a fixative adds or subtracts from the sketch over time.
  2. For the time being, this is a real thing. For those of us brought up in the old school of thought it seems ridiculous - to the point of not seeming real. But in my mind it ceases to be ridiculous when there are soooo many people pouring money into the hobby who ascribe to this "first image / first appearance" new doctrine. I personally think it is foolish, but it is real. The question is - "When the speculator money is all gone, what then?"
  3. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/19-comics-market-sales-advertising-ebay-dealers-etc/ Have fun. You seem like a swell dude
  4. It is called Comics Marketplace - Forum Only Selling Here is a link to the G/S/B Forum https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/61-goldensilverbronze-age-only/
  5. The best part is that when you click the link there are two of the exact same book right below it for sale for $75 BINs and they are just sitting there . . .
  6. Yeah I'm great. Still have all my Celeb SS so I am not ALL the way out.
  7. How are you doing, bud? I miss all you old SS jockeys. I still think of our Hulk Hogan experience from time to time!
  8. Unless you had a very discerning eye, you should expect a lot of 9.6s. Out of my first two modern submission, which were almost exclusively copper books, most were 9.6. They were very very nice, but not to the level of 9.8. It took me many many months to be able to confidently choose 9.8s.
  9. I actually think that this was a "test book" for some artist. They were trying different coloring media to see how they turned out. Since "Master Pencils" is one of the very prevalent types of colored pencils, I am fairly confident about this. It would be like seeing "Copics" or "Sharpies" at the top of a sketch. @Khaotic Dragon
  10. I submitted a copy of Batman: The Cult #1 in either my first or second submission and received a Gem Mint 10. Innumerable submissions since then and I have gotten 3 or 4 9.9s but never another 10.
  11. Don’t listen to these guys. For heavy creasing 2-3 hours. About half that for light creasing. You are going to want to set the temp just ever so slightly above 450 degrees. Those creases won’t stand a chance! Enjoy!
  12. All of this guys threads should be titled “I love to stuff my size 10 foot in my mouth. Wanna see? Also i have no idea how to grade comic books and I just sent a bunch to CGC. A couple of them have been taped to the front of display longboxes since Bill Clinton was in the White House. Finally, I hate punctuation.”
  13. Great story Adam. One of my favorite Con memories of you was the first time that you and your wife brought your little man to either Gem City or Mid-Ohio. If I recall correctly, it was quite some time before he warmed up to ol' Fingh. He kept looking at you two like you should be running away in fear. Those years - 2008-2013 - were probably my favorite collecting years.
  14. I thought you loved comics and the art within? Nevermind, go back to your international investments, your ESL classes, and your fast living early retirement lifestyle that involves scrolling through EBay looking at Sonic the Hedgehog comic books.
  15. But then they would be jeopardizing their construct of having facilitators be independent contractors. It is a fairly fine line. I'm mainly going to stay out of this as my history with DWC is long and sordid. The fact that there is not an employee - employer relationship inhibits the amount of control over the independent contractor - lest they be deemed employees with all that entails.
  16. I wouldn't do it. Get him to sign one of his amazing books with Jim Starlin.
  17. I love the Lee sig, it is small and tight - and I like Jr's placement. I would have put Romita anywhere other than where he did it, and depending upon the order of when the sigs were obtained, I would have window bagged for Romita and Shooter to both be much lower. But if this book were on my hit list, I wouldn't hesitate to get it. But by the same token, if the Romita sig bothers you, stay away, because it will never not bother you. Some multi sig books, you have to take what you get because they are unduplicatable.
