  1. Last picture, those fingerprints are brutal. You have to get a dry clean, and have them evaluate for a press at that time. It has been several years since I have submitted books, but when I was, ther eis no way that would get above 9.4 with those fingerprints.
  2. 9.6 is an outstanding grade for a 30+ year old comic. I firmly believe the average grade of a book in a comic shop or on a spinner rack in the 80's is a 9.4 - so you picked an excellent copy and took great care of it. Are you going to sell it? It still has significant value based on what you paid and slabbing costs. The only way it makes sense to press and regrade is if it has pressable defects. The only way you will know that is to let someone who knows what they are looking for review it to see. Personally, I wouldn't mess with that book.
  3. When are my copies of Foreskin Man going to be worth some bread?
  4. Dan Partouche has stated pretty emphatically that he believes it is not Jeff Edwards. I can only assume that is because Dan is familiar with his art style, and I trust Dan's opinion highly. We probably need to keep looking, or just own the fact that it is an artist alley sketch that may never be identified.
  5. Remember folks, great books go in the Infinite Signature thread, one-of-a-kind books go here.
  6. That is some super cool provenance!!
  7. When you say "worth" - what do you mean? Because I used to fund my comic habit almost exclusively by buying moderns raw in the $1-50 range and then slabbing them and flipping them for $100+ - sometimes blue label sometimes yellow label. If you can grade, and you know what is hot, there are dozens and dozens and dozens of books from the last 30 years that are worth slabbing.
  8. Rubenstein has strung a lot of people out a LOT of times. Please, please please, CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!
  9. Just so you hear the opposing opinion - I disagree with everything the other person said. That may be a common belief as it relates to cracking out 9.8s for signature (and just so we are clear, I don't agree with that either. I have cracked out dozens possibly hundreds of 9.8s and had one grade drop) but not for a 9.2. A 9.2 has significant wear on it already. The risk of a grade drop is SUBSTANTIALLY less than the risk of a grade drop on a cracked out 9.8. Do grade drops happen. Sure they do. But so do grade bumps. Careful planning, knowing who is handling the book, and learning how to create bomb proof window bag transportation systems will keep most grades on point. The Sig Room has become a place of grade drop fear mongering and it is out of place.
  10. Pretty sure the bottom one is Vance Astro - sometimes member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I feel like the final one is a member of the Legion of Superheroes, possible Duo Damsel or maybe a modern version of Saturn Girl. Edit: It also might be Elasti-Girl from the Doom Patrol. I actually think that is who it is.
  11. So Richie, I met Billy Zabka and Martin Kove at a show years ago as a CAW for Andy C. It was to do a book for Troy T @Harley Troy - a beat up Karate Kid #1. He wanted two gigantic quotes from them as well as signatures. The book was an absolute mess (Sorry Troy, but it was / is) but those two guys were both the nicest people you could ever want to meet. Kind, great with fans, talkative and friendly. I hope he is still the same dude now that he is famous again!.
  12. It's a valid criticism, but at the time, we were coming out of an era where Sal Buscema, Herb Trimpe and then Mike Mignola were sort of the "house style" Hulk artists. When Todd started doing what he did, it was crazy and groundbreaking, and to a 17 year old, pretty cool. Having seen all of the imitators and the hyper-realistic guys and everything else that has come out in the last 30 years, I can see why it could be scoffed at. BUt man at the time, Todd's milkshake brought all the nerds to the yard.
  13. Gold Key never had the raw numbers of collectors that Marvel and DC did. It changed format a couple of times throughout the run and it had some reprint issues. Other than the painted covers, the art is pretty pedestrian. I love Charltons, and to a lesser extent Gold Key, but I have always been pretty about Dr. Spektor.
  14. You should show the art to see if anyone recognizes it. Otherwise, my guess is it is an artist alley sketch.
  15. Ugh. Sad news. Bob was quite a character and well-loved. R.I.P
  16. Well, all right then. Sounds like it was all above board. But I am shocked how much he looks like the Red Viper of Dorn!
  17. Mando would not have taken his helmet off, bro.
  18. That label ignores both signatures for grading purposes and authenticates one of them.
  19. Brooks can be very creative and even his small headshots are awesome https://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=36509&GSub=1911
  20. To try and preserve, or more accurately, reinstate, their summary proceeding victory.
